Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders sequel series with Lesley Manville releases first look and confirms new cast

The first images from ‘Marble Hall Murders,’ the next series in the popular ‘Magpie Murders’ and ‘Moonflower Murders‘ mysteries, have been released.

Later this year, a new six-episode series will premiere, adapting the final book in Anthony Horowitz’s Susan Ryeland novels. The show will once again feature Lesley Manville as Susan Ryeland, alongside Tim McMullan as the literary detective Atticus Pünd.

The series features returning cast members Manville and McMullan, as well as exciting new additions Mark Bonnar, known for ‘Line of Duty,’ and Patricia Hodge, famous from ‘All Creatures Great and Small’.

Let’s talk about who else is joining the cast! I’m excited to see Jamie Blackley, who you might recognize from ‘Outrageous,’ and Daniel Cerqueira, known for ‘This City Is Ours.’ Harry Lloyd (‘I, Jack Wright’), Rupert Penry-Jones (a familiar face from ‘Spooks’), Anneika Rose (‘Line of Duty’), Danny Sapani (‘Halo’), and Zubin Varla (‘Andor’) are all set to appear too. It’s a really strong ensemble they’re building!

The new novel, Marble Hall Murders, filmed in Dublin, Corfu, and London, features editor Susan Ryeland. She’s tasked with helping a struggling author, Blackley, finish the latest book in the Atticus Pünd series.

Susan’s investigation into a new job quickly turns into a murder case, and surprisingly, she becomes a suspect herself. Meanwhile, Atticus Pünd is vacationing on the island of Corfu when he gets caught up in the murder of Lady Margaret Chalfont (Hodge). He teams up with a local Greek detective, Varla, to investigate her family.

When the show was officially renewed, Horowitz expressed his excitement about reuniting the original cast and crew for a third season. He believes this installment has the potential to be even better than the previous ones.

Jill Green, the executive producer, also shared that Anthony has delivered another fresh and insightful take on the murder mystery genre. ‘Marble Hall Murders’ concludes the trilogy, and both the writing and performances are excellent, as expected.
