Boba Fett has had a surprisingly difficult journey. He first appeared in the much-criticized Star Wars Holiday Special and then played a key part in The Empire Strikes Back. George Lucas initially envisioned him as a major villain, but that didn’t happen. Instead, Fett had a rather anticlimactic death falling into the Sarlacc Pit. Even his return in The Book of Boba Fett wasn’t well-received. While Temuera Morrison wants to reprise the role, it seems Star Wars is struggling to find a good story for Boba Fett.
The new preview of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge #1 from Bleeding Cool is really exciting! Created by Ethan Sacks, Jethro Morales, Roi Mercado, and Phil Noto, it seems like a promising start to the series. The preview reveals that Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett are set to clash at Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is Rebranding Itself in Style

Over the next few months, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is getting a major update. The popular Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run ride will be reimagined to connect with the story of The Mandalorian and Grogu, starting May 22nd. While details are scarce, the updated ride will take you on missions to planets like Coruscant and Bespin. You’ll be flying the Falcon to battle the remnants of the Empire, putting you right in the middle of the fight!
Galaxy’s Edge at Disney parks is now expanding beyond a single point in the Star Wars story. This new comic book explains how popular characters like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, C-3PO, R2-D2, and even Darth Vader can appear in the land. The comic sets the stage for these appearances and suggests that other fan favorites, like Boba Fett, will be joining them soon.
The biggest question is what Luke Skywalker is actually feeling. Batuu seems to be a planet strongly connected to the Force, and it used to house an old Jedi Temple. These kinds of powerful Force connections can be unpredictable and dangerous, attracting both the Sith, who want to control them, and the Jedi, who revere them. It’s likely this is all leading to new experiences and items available for purchase at Galaxy’s Edge, and if so, these events will be impossible to ignore.
As a huge Star Wars fan, I’m really excited about the potential for Batuu to expand beyond the original trilogy. Timothy Zahn’s novel, Thrawn: Alliances, cleverly introduced prequel-era characters to that location, which opens up so many possibilities! It wouldn’t be a stretch at all to see Grand Admiral Thrawn, Padmé, or even Anakin Skywalker showing up in the park, alongside some Separatist villains. It just proves Disney was smart to let Batuu explore different eras of the Star Wars timeline – the storytelling potential is incredible!
