Pragmata Looks Best on PS5 Pro, Says Tech Experts

Digital Foundry’s technical analysis confirms that Pragmata offers a great experience on the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Since Sony released its improved PSSR2 upscaler earlier this year, the PlayStation 5 has been outperforming other consoles. This continues to be true with the impressive debut game from Hugh and Diana, much like we saw with Resident Evil Requiem.

Although the standard PS5 performs well, the enhanced version delivers noticeably better image quality.

The game targets 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second on typical computers, but it relies on an older upscaling technology called FSR1. This unfortunately leads to a noticeably blurry and less detailed picture.

The game aims for a smooth 60 frames per second in Frame Rate mode, but does this by disabling ray tracing for reflections. Switching to Resolution mode re-enables ray tracing, but it results in a slightly lower frame rate. If your TV or monitor supports VRR, it can help smooth out those frame rate dips.

Okay, so the PS5 Pro is seriously stepping up the graphics game. Basically, it makes everything look way better, and it does it by taking an image that’s internally rendered at 864p and then using this cool tech called PSSR2 to upscale it to a super sharp 2160p. It keeps all the features we already love from the regular resolution mode, but just makes them look amazing.

The final image is much better overall, but the ray-traced reflections appear blurry because of the lower resolution used during processing.

Sony’s powerful console also has a Frame Rate mode that can reach up to 120 frames per second. While it doesn’t always hit that mark, it generally stays within the acceptable range for variable refresh rate technology, making it worth experimenting with. The only trade-off is that this mode reduces the upscaling resolution to 1440p, but that still looks good from a normal viewing distance.

Overall, the PS5 Pro continues to impress and is clearly establishing itself as a significant upgrade over the standard PS5.
