Carrie Ann Inaba is getting candid about her struggles with Sjogren’s disease.
The Dancing With the Stars judge recently revealed she focuses on “energy management” now that she’s been diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune condition that causes dryness in the eyes and mouth.
Carrie Ann recently shared with People magazine that despite appearing well, she actually lives with ongoing pain, dry eyes and mouth, and persistent fatigue.
She explained that Sjogren’s is a constant companion, even though it’s not visible. She lives with ongoing pain and fatigue, and her focus is on managing those symptoms.
The 58-year-old woman also shared that this has sadly led to the loss of many friendships. She explained that her ongoing fatigue leaves her with little energy to invest in maintaining relationships.
Carrie Ann, diagnosed with Sjogren’s disease in 2013, explained that over time, she’s mostly felt sadness. She understands what the disease is taking away from her life.
That’s why the former In Living Color cast member now plans her days around her health, making sure to schedule quiet time at home, often before filming Dancing with the Stars.
I always plan a restful day after a busy one,” she explained, “It’s all about managing my pain levels in everyday life.
I was so worried when I heard about Carrie Ann’s health scare! She explained what happened during her flight to New York on April 15th – it turns out she had really bad food poisoning. She became severely dehydrated, which caused her blood pressure to drop, and that’s what led to her needing to be hospitalized. It’s good to know what it was and that she’s okay now!
I usually take care of my health on my own,” she explained in an Instagram video posted on April 16th. “Like a lot of people with autoimmune conditions, I carry a kit with health supplies and try to be ready for anything, but this time I was really frightened.

Carrie Ann Inaba, formerly a host on The Talk, described feeling numb in her arms while in the bathroom, which prompted her to ask a flight attendant for help. She told USA Today that the incident reminded her how important it is to pay attention to her body and trust her instincts when something feels off.
She expressed her deep gratitude to those who supported her and helped her get through a frightening time.

As someone who’s always been open about the realities of life – and yes, even wrestling! – I wanted to share something a bit personal. During a match back in July 2025 against Piper Niven, I took a pretty hard elbow slam. Turns out, it actually caused one of my breast implants to shift! It’s definitely a reminder that even as a pro, things don’t always go as planned, and sometimes you just have to roll with it… or, in this case, maybe get a little touch-up work!
She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, that they would eventually get the issue resolved. She explained to the doctor that as soon as she retired from her current job, she would return to address the problem and make everything look its best, because she planned to actively use the items in the future and wanted them to be presentable.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids—non-cancerous growths in or around the uterus—in 2014, the same year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.
She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with the condition for over ten years.
She explained that many girls are taught to accept period pain as a normal part of being a woman. This often leaves them dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

Let me tell you, as someone who’s always advocating for comfort and feeling good in your clothes, I was a little surprised to hear about Riley Keough’s recent health scare! She shared that she actually had to be hospitalized because of a hernia – basically, a weak spot in your abdominal muscles – and it was caused by wearing super tight pants. It’s a good reminder that while fashion is fun, prioritizing your body’s comfort is always the most important thing. I always say, a comfortable you is a confident you!
Someone messaged Suki on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “You haven’t tweeted in a while!” Suki replied with a surprising explanation: she’d been hiding a hernia caused by wearing very tight pants six months ago and was afraid to mention it.

A Racing Louisville soccer player collapsed early in the team’s game against Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle.
According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player sat down on the field with a teammate supporting her, and then quickly collapsed. Trainers were immediately called to assess her condition.
After receiving initial medical attention on the field, Savannah was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests, the National Women’s Soccer League reported. They stated she is currently in stable condition and responsive.

Adam Devine revealed that injuries from being hit by a cement truck at age 11 continue to bother him now.
“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I’ve been experiencing spasms all over my body, and doctors recently told me I was facing a life-threatening situation—within the last year, actually.”
He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying his body has some minor imperfections and isn’t quite working as it should.

A former contestant on The Bachelor went to the hospital because of severe back pain. He said he was in so much pain he had to crawl on his hands and knees, and the pain got worse during a road trip with a friend.
He described a lingering tingling sensation in his knees and toes during a March 2025 episode of his podcast, Trading Secrets. He explained that just a few weeks prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds, but now he can’t even do a squat or stand on one leg without falling. He compared the feeling to having had a stroke.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter, from The Real Housewives of Orange County, revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a clay pigeon shooting trip when the incident occurred.
I was shot in the face at a party because someone fired a gun carelessly in the wrong direction,” she explained in an Instagram post. “Brendan Rooney quickly helped me, checked my injuries, and drove me to the hospital. I was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed my right eye, coming within an inch of hitting me directly.
According to the Kim Possible star, a small piece of something got stuck behind her eye, and doctors believe it’s too dangerous to remove with surgery right now. She’s currently being monitored by doctors, but her vision is still normal.
The actress expressed immense gratitude for surviving a frightening experience. She shared her deep love for her daughters, husband, family, and friends, emphasizing how quickly life can change. She urged everyone to cherish their loved ones and hug them whenever possible, as life is precious and unpredictable.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, even though it can be harsh, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier” and receiving critical comments online, doctors began commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome – a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted Amy to realize she’d been getting steroid injections for past procedures like a breast reduction and C-section. She later learned she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own, and she was incredibly relieved to receive a good diagnosis. As she shared, finding out she was healthy was the best news she could have hoped for.

As a huge hockey fan and especially a follower of the Fitzgerald family, I was really worried when I heard about the injury their son sustained in a December 2024 AHL game. He was unfortunately cut by a skate and needed 25 stitches! Thankfully, he made a full recovery, and his dad, Tom Fitzgerald – the GM of the New Jersey Devils – shared how incredibly relieved they were. He told ESPN it was a terrifying experience, and honestly, I can’t imagine how awful it must have been; he said he wouldn’t wish that on any parent, and I completely understand why.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly began to have stroke-like symptoms, initially unable to respond when Justin asked if she was okay. She then realized she couldn’t speak and the right side of her face started to droop.
Although her speech and facial movement eventually returned, Hailey went to the hospital where tests revealed she’d had a small blood clot in her brain, which doctors identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack).
Further testing at UCLA discovered Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). Doctors determined the blood clot had traveled to her heart, passed through the hole, and reached her brain, causing the TIA.
Hailey underwent a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it had become increasingly difficult to eat.
Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey later told viewers of Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well and feeling much better, adding that the situation had been frightening but he was going to be okay.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could take aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next 20 days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered he’d had a brain bleed that led to a stroke.
After surgery, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair on May 4th, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying he needed them all.

The reality TV star shared that she briefly stopped breathing while running in the first challenge of the NBC competition show, describing the experience as feeling like ‘dying’.
She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, she remembered only darkness, followed by light, leading her to realize she had died that day.
She explained that her organs were failing and she hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where the body essentially begins to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the series, she experienced a severe headache at the gym, which quickly escalated. She described becoming violently ill and realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.
A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain – due to a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she temporarily lost her ability to speak, often muttering incoherently.
Though she was discharged after a month, a follow-up scan in 2013 revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure was unsuccessful, leading to another dangerous bleed. Doctors warned her that without further intervention, her survival was uncertain, and they had to access her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia has since made a full recovery and is now at 100%.

She says she’s feeling great and has been working to regain some motor skills, but is otherwise doing fine.

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her early twenties. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she revealed she experienced hearing loss, extreme fatigue, and digestive problems. Doctors offered various diagnoses, leaving her feeling confused and frustrated.
Determined to find answers, Woodley combined traditional medical care with holistic and herbal remedies, seeking a comprehensive approach to wellness. This journey lasted for ten years, and the physical discomfort led to anxieties around food and ultimately, struggles with body image and identity.
Thankfully, after years of dedicated work on both her physical and mental health, Woodley is now feeling much better and considers herself very healthy. She expressed gratitude for being able to say that she has resolved these issues.
