Coronation Street reached a milestone with its first-ever wedding between two women, as characters Carla and Lisa Connor-Swain (played by Alison King and Vicky Myers) tied the knot.
This wedding, unlike most in similar stories, went smoothly – aside from a flooded reception hall and the discovery of a body.
For months, viewers have been anticipating this storyline, which began with a surprising episode in February. It opened with Betsy Swain (played by Sydney Martin) being questioned by police after discovering a neighbor’s body on the night of a wedding.
Several people became suspects in the investigation, including Theo Silverton, played by James Cartwright, Carl Webster, played by Jonathan Howard, Jodie Ramsey, played by Olivia Frances Brown, Maggie Driscoll, played by Pauline McLynn, and Megan Walsh, played by Beth Nixon.
Many characters on the show have made enemies, and next week’s episodes will reveal who has died.

On today’s episode, Carla and Lisa were devastated to learn that Carl had flooded their wedding venue, the Chariot Square Hotel, forcing them to cancel their ceremony. Lisa quickly took charge and, with the help of loved ones, began planning a new, special celebration.
Instead of their original plan, she surprised Carla with a small, private celebration with their nearest and dearest when they arrived at the hotel. While Betsy helped the women get ready, Ryan Connor finalized the preparations at the bar.

Roy Cropper gave Carla a bracelet that once belonged to his late wife, Hayley, hoping it could serve as her ‘something borrowed,’ ‘old,’ and ‘blue’ for her wedding. Betsy happily realized that Lisa would be her ‘something new’.
The women exchanged vows in a heartwarming ceremony, marking a joyful culmination of a challenging journey to find happiness together.
The surprises kept coming! Back at the factory, Sally Metcalfe accidentally set off the security alarm, which meant Carla had to rush inside and disable it. As soon as she did, everyone jumped out, revealing they’d secretly gathered to give her a surprise welcome.

Soon after that, Betsy told everyone she was going out in Manchester with her close friend, Lauren Bolton (played by Cait Fitton), and this is where the trouble started.
Carla and Lisa went outside onto the factory balcony to watch the fireworks happening in David Platt’s garden. After they came back inside, they talked about their day. They heard a loud scream in the distance, but dismissed it, thinking it was just foxes.
As we know, it was actually Betsy making her discovery.
But who dies, and who has blood on their hands?
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm and from 7am on ITVX.
