Apple TV+’s popular show, For All Mankind, imagined a world where the Soviet Union won the space race, landing a man on the moon before the United States. Over five seasons, the show explored the consequences of this alternate history, largely from an American perspective. While the sixth and final season is coming soon, Apple TV+ has announced a new spinoff series to continue the story, and they’ve just released the first trailer.
Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for the next installment of For All Mankind, now titled Star City. This season goes back to 1969, when the Soviet Union was racing to land cosmonauts on the moon. The series explores the challenges and complications the Soviets faced, including a mole who is secretly aiding the Americans. You can view the trailer below.
Star City Shifts The Point of View to the Soviets

Star City tells the story of the Soviet Union’s ambitious effort to land cosmonauts on the Moon. The show focuses not only on the astronauts, but also on the team behind them – the engineers, intelligence officers, and the lead designer, portrayed by Rhys Ifans, who are all working to make the mission a success.
The trailer hints at growing distrust surrounding the United States – it’s not just about the space race, but also suspicion that someone in Star City is secretly helping the Americans. These discoveries dramatically increase the tension within the program, leading to dangerous conflicts that threaten the cosmonauts’ lives.
Star City boasts a talented cast including Rhys Ifans (known for House of the Dragon), Anna Maxwell Martin (from Motherland), Agnes O’Casey (Black Doves), Alice Englert (Bad Behaviour), Solly McLeod (House of the Dragon), Adam Nagaitis (Chernobyl), Ruby Ashbourne Serkis (I, Jack Wright), Josef Davies (Andor), and Priya Kansara (Bridgerton). The series is created by Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Ronald D. Moore, with Wolpert and Nedivi also serving as showrunners. Here’s the official description of Star City.

Inspired by the popular series For All Mankind, Star City is a fast-paced, suspenseful thriller that revisits a pivotal moment in an alternate history of the space race: when the Soviet Union first landed a man on the moon. This time, the story unfolds from the Soviet perspective, offering a look into the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers who supported them, and the intelligence officers working within the Soviet space program—and the sacrifices they made in the pursuit of space exploration.
Star City will release on Apple TV on May 29, 2026.
