Production has begun on the second film in the new DC Universe, following the successful launch of James Gunn’s Superman. The movie will feature returning actors from the first film, along with some exciting new cast members. Lars Eidinger will play the villain Brainiac, but actress Adria Arjona is generating a lot of buzz. While her specific role hasn’t been announced, many fans believe she’ll be playing Wonder Woman, and that speculation is continuing to build.
A video of actress Adria Arjona working out recently appeared on Instagram (shared by the X account Adria Arjona Updates). Because filming for Man of Tomorrow is currently underway, it’s likely this was part of her preparation for the role. Many comments on social media have speculated that the workout is related to rumors about her potentially playing Wonder Woman.

Is Adria Arjona Playing Maxima or Wonder Woman in Man of Tomorrow?
Rumors suggest actress Xolo Maridueña will play multiple roles in the DC Universe, including Wonder Woman. She’s also been linked to the character Maxima, a queen from the planet Almerac who comes to Earth hoping to partner with Superman. Including Maxima in a future Superman story, like Man of Tomorrow, would fit well with her comic book background. The comics show Maxima initially working with the villain Brainiac before changing allegiances, and the film could explore this, presenting her as an unpredictable character who begins as an opponent but eventually becomes an ally.
I’m so excited to see Wonder Woman join the DCU, but I’m not sure the Man of Tomorrow movie is the best place to introduce her. It feels like that film is already packed with Superman’s story and bringing in John Stewart as Lanterns, and I think Wonder Woman deserves her own moment to shine. She’s going to be a huge part of the DCU going forward, and a standalone movie would really let us get to know her and her story. I know DC Studios is working on a Wonder Woman movie, and I’m glad they’re taking their time to get the script right before they start casting – it shows they’re serious about doing her justice!
Considering everything, Maxima seems like a better choice for the film Man of Tomorrow. The connection to Brainiac provides a simple storyline, and she’s not as well-known to most moviegoers, meaning audiences won’t have pre-existing expectations. Unlike Wonder Woman, who would likely disappoint if she had a minor role, Maxima could effectively support a story focused on Superman and Lex Luthor teaming up against Brainiac.
It’ll be interesting to see if James Gunn comments on the casting of Xolo Maridueña as Superman. Gunn usually addresses rumors and clarifies details for fans online, and he quickly corrected a previous report about a different role in the film. However, he hasn’t said anything about Maridueña’s casting yet. Warner Bros. also didn’t mention it at their recent presentation, leaving fans to speculate. As the movie is filmed, many are hoping Gunn will offer some confirmation before any set photos reveal the news and ruin the surprise.
