Samson is Coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in September After “So-So” PC Launch

Christofer Sundberg, the founder of Liquid Swords, emphasizes that their first game, Samson, is different from Grand Theft Auto. Despite this, Samson will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in September, about two months before the launch of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6.

Sundberg shared this information with Chris Dring from The Game Business, and also gave an update on the PC game’s release. As you may know, the PC launch hasn’t gone smoothly – something Sundberg had actually predicted.

The game’s launch wasn’t ideal, to be honest. It had a lot of bugs and wasn’t as polished as we’d hoped. We’re fixing issues almost every day now, and people are starting to react more positively. We really needed to release it, and in today’s market, just getting a game out there is an achievement.

The regular weekly updates for Samson should improve the game to the level players anticipated, but they won’t add a lot of new content. The focus will be on refining what’s already there. Originally, the developers planned to release the game on all platforms at the same time, but budget constraints made that impossible.

We lacked the resources to work on a Switch version before the game launched. Now that the game is out, we have the capacity, and it’s already playable on consoles – it just needs some performance improvements and the approval process with Nintendo. However, don’t anticipate a version for the next-generation Nintendo Switch anytime soon.

Sundberg explained that the game has very demanding graphics and wouldn’t perform well on the Switch 2 unless they significantly lowered the visual quality.

You can find a more in-depth look at Samson in our review, where we scored it a 7/10. Recently, Liquid Swords received an update that added new car options, improved the Time Trial mode, and tweaked how damage works. The next update is scheduled for April 29th and will concentrate on making the game more stable and improving how it plays.

Players can look forward to a mid-May update with new combat features. Then, in mid-June, a new update will focus on vehicles. We might even see new jobs or gameplay mechanics added. Keep an eye out for more information as it becomes available.
