The Avengers are undoubtedly the leading hero team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first phase of the franchise focused on bringing the original Avengers together, and they became central to the epic story of the Infinity Saga. While the Avengers haven’t been as prominent in the newer Multiverse Saga films, they still hold the most importance within the overall Marvel story. Each Avengers movie showcases a powerful group of heroes demonstrating their skills, solidifying their status as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
Despite the Avengers being incredibly powerful in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the films sometimes forget about characters’ abilities. Occasionally, a power is introduced and then never used again, or established comic book powers are ignored. This creates an inconsistent and frustrating sense of how strong each character actually is.
7) Captain America’s Superhuman Speed & Stamina

Captain America is often ranked among the MCU’s strongest Avengers, thanks to his central role in the team and the overall story. But a key power he showed early on seems to have been overlooked. Right after receiving the super-soldier serum, Steve Rogers demonstrated incredible speed and endurance, easily keeping up with a moving car. Later films, however, portray him getting tired after even brief battles, and his super-speed is rarely used.
6) Tony Stark’s Technopathy

It’s debatable whether the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Tony Stark is a true technopath – the films never explicitly say so. However, in the original comics, being able to intuitively understand and work with technology is a defining characteristic of the character, and a major reason he’s such a brilliant inventor and key member of the Avengers. While the MCU version definitely shows Stark’s talent for building and controlling tech, the films seem to have downplayed or forgotten that the comics established him as a full-fledged technopath.
5) Thor’s All-Tongue

Throughout his appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor has shown off incredible powers. One ability, called the All-Tongue in the comics, allows him to instantly understand any language. While the movie Avengers: Infinity War briefly showed this power with a funny scene involving Groot, it hasn’t been explored further since then.
4) Doctor Strange’s Time Looping

Doctor Strange is known as one of the MCU’s strongest magic users, but the films surprisingly overlooked a very powerful ability he once used. In the first Doctor Strange movie, he trapped Dormammu in a time loop until Dormammu agreed to a truce. Yet, when Thanos fought the Avengers, Strange didn’t seem to remember this trick. This is strange because using a time loop could have given the heroes the extra time they needed to defeat Thanos, making it a power that should have been utilized.
3) Thor’s Control of Lightning

Thor is consistently considered one of the most powerful Avengers due to his strength and immortality. However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe surprisingly forgot about one of his key abilities: controlling lightning. While initially showcased, this power disappeared from his appearances until Taika Waititi brought it back in Thor: Ragnarok. It’s strange that the franchise overlooked such a defining characteristic of the character, and hopefully it won’t happen again.
2) Hulk’s Immortality

Since Hulk first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there have been instances where he’s been portrayed as less powerful than he should be. Hulk is not only one of the strongest Avengers, but he also has a unique ability: he’s practically immortal. This was revealed when it was mentioned Bruce Banner once tried to take his own life, but the Hulk instinctively intervened. This aligns with the comics, where Hulk is an immortal being fueled by rage, but the MCU hasn’t really emphasized this aspect of his character lately.
1) Iron Man’s Perfect Targeting

Iron Man quickly became a fan favorite in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and early on, he demonstrated a remarkable ability. In the first Iron Man movie, he used a targeting system that could precisely hit multiple enemies, even when they were hiding behind civilians. Surprisingly, this advanced technology was never used again. In later movies, Iron Man often missed his targets with his repulsor blasts, as if he’d forgotten all about this incredibly accurate system.
