New The Big Bang Theory spin-off series confirms release month with first-look images

This summer, HBO Max will release “Stuart Saves the Universe,” a new spin-off from “The Big Bang Theory” featuring the quirky character Stuart. Along with the announcement, some initial photos from the show have been revealed.

I’m a big fan of the whole universe started by that awesome nerdy sitcom, and we’ve already gotten ‘Young Sheldon’ and ‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’. But this new show is different – it’s really cool because it actually dives into science fiction, which is a fun change of pace!

In a new episode, comic book store owner Stuart (Kevin Sussman) finds himself at the center of a major crisis. He accidentally triggers a “multiverse armageddon” by damaging a machine created by the show’s original stars, Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons).

Although the show’s summary mentions their characters, it’s still unclear if actors Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons will actually appear in the series, or if they’ll just be talked about without being shown on screen.

The show will feature alternate versions of the characters from The Big Bang Theory as Stuart embarks on a multiversal adventure with his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), friend Bert (Brian Posehn), and sometimes-rival Barry (John Ross Bowie).

If you’re curious about what’s next for the world of The Big Bang Theory, you’ll be happy to know we won’t have to wait much longer! The new series, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, will debut on HBO Max in July 2026.

With HBO Max now available in the UK, the show will probably premiere at the same time in both the UK and the US, directly on the new streaming service.

I just saw the first image from the show, and it’s really grabbed my attention! It looks like our main characters are in some kind of devastated world – everything’s pretty dark and gritty. They’re standing near a metallic vehicle and you can just tell they’ve just heard some bad news. It’s definitely got me hooked and wanting to know more!

In another shot, the group looks ahead with fear, seemingly reacting to something they can’t see. They’re holding a large, mechanical device that likely sets their adventure in motion.

A new picture reveals Stuart and Denise enjoying a quiet moment together beside a sparkling blue lake surrounded by trees. The couple first met and later married during the original run of The Big Bang Theory.

Lapkus is known for her roles as the lead in the Netflix comedy The Wrong Missy and as the voice of Jennifer Sh’reyan in Star Trek: Lower Decks. Sussman recently starred in the popular miniseries The Dropout and Lessons in Chemistry.

The new show, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, hints at a chaotic journey across different realities, and it looks like Stuart and Denise are facing a major problem, as shown in the image.

The Big Bang Theory is getting a fresh take from the original creators, Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, along with Zak Penn, a screenwriter known for big movies like X2, The Avengers, Ready Player One, and Free Guy.
