11 Bit Studios has officially confirmed that the PlayStation 5 version of Frostpunk 2 is set to launch on September 18, 2025. Players will be able to purchase either a physical or digital copy of the game. Check out the console unveiling trailer above for a sneak peek!
Approximately a year back, the city-building game set in a frozen landscape was launched for PC platforms. This game has garnered positive reviews from both critics and players, earning an 85 score on Metacritic.
11-Bit Studios, having learned from their initial console porting experience with the first game, enhanced their circular navigation user interface for a more seamless console play. Their aim is to demonstrate that even intricate strategy games can thrive on consoles. To accomplish this, they strive to transfer as many original solutions as feasible during development.

As reported by production coordinator Igor Skibinski, the task turned out to be more complex than anticipated, given the significant differences between the two versions of Frostpunk. Efforts are now being made to modify and refine these gameplay systems in order to create a smooth gaming experience, ensuring that players can engage with the game intuitively without having to pause their gameplay to consider how to proceed.
The final product features enhancements across several areas. Pressing the bumper buttons allows you to switch between identical district groups, while a circular interface pops up over resources, offering options tailored to their utilization.
Apart from the standard digital version available on the PlayStation Store, 11 Bit Studios is teaming up with Skybound Games to provide two physical versions as well. These include the Icebreaker Edition and the Whiteout Edition.
