Today, Gearbox Software declared that Borderlands 4 has reached the “gold” stage. This signifies that all development work on the initial version of the game has been concluded, allowing it to be duplicated onto discs.
For the developer, there’s still plenty of work ahead with confirmed DLC and ongoing post-launch support, likely including a launch-day update along with the main game. But as of 12th September 2025 for PS5, everything that will be initially released is finalized and ready to go.
You can pre-order this game priced at £69.99 / $69.99, available for both physical and digital purchase on the PlayStation Store right now. If you’re interested in the post-launch expansions, there are more expensive options available. The Deluxe Edition provides free access to four DLC packs upon their release, while the Super Deluxe Edition offers six such packs.
In the previous month, we shared our Borderlands 4 Preview, derived from three hours of gaming sessions focused on the early parts of the FPS. We noted that the game is refining its formula for a more rewarding weapon acquisition experience and an enhanced, dynamic shooting sensation. Following two segments played during the three-hour preview, it’s this delicate equilibrium that could potentially bring Borderlands 4 back to the successes achieved by the second installment.
