Everyone’s been eagerly awaiting the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, and a lot of rumors and fan guesses have been flying around. People are trying to figure out everything from who Sadie Sink plays to whether Daredevil will make an appearance. That’s why the trailer was so popular – fans are desperate for official details straight from the creators! Now, after carefully analyzing the trailer for any hidden clues or edits, fans have something even more exciting to dive into: portions of the movie’s script.
The complete script for Brand New Day hasn’t been released online. However, the filmmakers gave Entertainment Weekly a look at a few pages with notes, showing us how the movie starts. As you’d guess, the beginning focuses on Peter Parker’s loneliness – even the Marvel Studios logo has been changed to emphasize this. The first three pages mostly show scenes from the trailer (Peter watching Ned and MJ on social media), but there are still some new details to discover.
What The Spider-Man: Brand New Day Script Reveals About Peter Parker’s Life

The movie script reinforces what the trailer showed: Peter Parker is struggling emotionally. Nearly nine months after the events of No Way Home, he’s still having trouble adjusting to his life. The story begins with him brushing off a headache, hinting that he’s fallen into an unhealthy pattern. His AI assistant, EV, is currently the closest thing he has to a friend, and he’s relying on new technology to help him as Spider-Man. This includes a device that can repair his suit, which he built himself. Director Destin Daniel Cretton highlighted that it was important for Peter to design all of his own tech, now that he no longer has access to Tony Stark’s resources.
A major draw of the upcoming film is its focus on returning Spider-Man to his roots as a neighborhood hero who relies on his own ingenuity – a side of the character that hasn’t been fully explored in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has been popular, many felt he was too reliant on Iron Man. The script for this new film quickly establishes that Peter Parker is now completely independent, even designing and building his own suit, inspired by previous versions. The director has emphasized the suit’s realistic, practical design, noting details like the use of actual fabric and visible seams.
The story doesn’t ignore the fact that Peter is making poor decisions. His choice to isolate himself and focus solely on what he believes to be true is actually a distortion of May’s advice about responsibility and power, as seen in No Way Home. His dismissive attitude towards his increasingly severe headaches, which hint at a physical change, likely comes from being completely alone for the first time. A friend like Ned would have urged him to investigate these symptoms instead of ignoring them and hoping they’d go away.
The Brand New Day Script Seemingly Confirms the Villain Montage

The upcoming Brand New Day seems to be introducing a lot of villains, which is exciting but also a little worrying. Previous Spider-Man films, like Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, struggled with having too many bad guys. However, it looks like this film might handle it differently by quickly introducing some villains in a montage sequence at the start. The script ends with a note indicating this montage is coming, but we’ll have to wait and see exactly what it shows when the movie comes out.
This likely sets up a sequence showcasing Spider-Man’s villains. The trailer already showed him fighting characters like Tarantula and Boomerang. While some viewers might wish certain villains had more screen time, this is a good way to briefly feature them before the main plot begins. Marvel used a similar approach successfully in The Fantastic Four: First Steps last year, so it’s a logical choice for them here. This will also explain what Spider-Man has been up to during the four-year time jump, showing all of his accomplishments.
