It’s been over two years since Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, received incredible reviews. Ever since, fans have been eagerly wondering when the third game will be released (along with trying to understand that ending!). While creative director Tetsuya Nomura has stated they know when they’ll announce the next installment, we still don’t have a specific date.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi told Comicbook.com essentially the same thing – that development is on track. He couldn’t share specifics, but confirmed everything is proceeding as planned and they’re aiming to deliver a strong conclusion to the trilogy.
He reassured fans that they’re aware of the excitement for new details and that the announcement is coming soon. He asked for just a little more patience, saying preparations are moving forward steadily.
The phrase “steadily underway” probably refers to comments made by Hamaguchi last February, where he said the team would share more updates about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project in 2026 than they had before. This naturally leads to the question of exactly when we can expect those updates.
Good news for fans: over the past couple of years, we’ve learned more about Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. The game will include an enhanced version of the Queen’s Blood card game, and it’s still being built using Unreal Engine 4. While the game is playable now, the developers still have a lot of work to do to fully polish it.
The third part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake is heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and the new Nintendo Switch 2. We’ll share more information soon, so keep an eye out for updates.
