Long anime series – those with over 100 episodes – require a significant time investment, but many are rewarding to watch completely, despite some slower or unnecessary parts. While several anime reach this length, not all are worth watching every single episode. Shows like Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece are well-known classics, but even dedicated fans often suggest skipping certain episodes to avoid the less important content.
I’ve noticed a trend with anime: the ones that really keep you hooked and are easy to binge-watch usually aren’t super long. Whether they’re short enough to finish in a weekend or fall in the 50-90 episode range, they just feel less intimidating to start. Of course, there are exceptions – some longer anime, like really great fantasy series or stories that develop beautifully over time, manage to stay engaging throughout all 100+ episodes.
5) Hunter x Hunter (2011)

The 2011 version of Hunter x Hunter is a remake that many fans consider superior to the original, and it’s also longer, with 148 episodes. What’s even better is that it avoids unnecessary filler, making it a truly engaging watch. Widely praised as one of the best action-adventure anime of the past two decades, the series follows Gon’s quest to become a Hunter and find his father, and it consistently gets better as it goes. Despite the manga still being incomplete, the anime provides a satisfying conclusion to the story so far. If you’re looking for a lengthy anime with a compelling story, excellent world-building, unique power systems, and well-developed characters, this is a great choice – you likely won’t want to skip any episodes.
4) Yu Yu Hakusho

The anime Yu Yu Hakusho is a solid adaptation of Yoshihiro Togashi’s manga, spanning 112 episodes. While it has a few slow moments, they’re easy to overlook because almost every episode contributes to the overall story. The series begins with a surprising twist – the main character dies in the very first episode – and then follows his journey as he becomes a spirit detective. Yu Yu Hakusho is consistently enjoyable from start to finish, and even though it was created in the 1990s, it still feels fresh today. With its exciting action, compelling themes, and memorable characters, it’s perfect for a binge-watching session.
3) Gintama

Even though Gintama has filler episodes, it’s still a fantastic anime worth watching all 367 episodes and the movies. Unlike most long-running anime where skipping filler is recommended, fans agree that Gintama‘s filler is actually enjoyable and on par with the main story. The humor, both in the filler and canon episodes, is a major reason why Gintama is so great, and the series also has surprisingly touching serious moments. It’s rare to find a show with so many episodes—and filler—that’s worth watching from start to finish, but Gintama is definitely one of them.
2) My Hero Academia

With eight seasons and over 170 episodes, My Hero Academia tells a complete story of Izuku Midoriya’s journey. While some episodes are stronger than others, every part contributes to the overall narrative, meaning there aren’t any truly unnecessary installments. The series consistently delivers, blending exciting action with touching emotional scenes as Midoriya strives to become the top hero. It might take a little while to really get going, and it’s not flawless, but watching from the beginning is essential. Once you see how everything unfolds, you’ll likely find even the slower moments rewarding.
1) JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure

With over 100 episodes already released across six parts, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is quickly approaching 200, and will likely surpass that number when Steel Ball Run premieres later this year. Like many popular anime, JoJo’s doesn’t include much filler content. Although each part features a new main character and story, it’s best to watch the series in order. Skipping around could cause you to miss key details and not fully appreciate the returning characters and ongoing themes. Plus, it’s really rewarding to see how JoJo’s develops and changes throughout the entire story, making a complete binge-watch highly recommended.
