As a huge fan of The Great Pottery Throw Down, I’m thrilled to hear it’s coming back! Channel 4 is doing a five-episode celebrity special, and Liza Tarbuck will be hosting – I can’t wait to see which famous faces try their hand at the wheel.
I was really interested to see what Tarbuck’s been up to! It’s her first project since leaving BBC Radio 2, which she did earlier this year. She’d been doing her Saturday evening show for 14 years, but she decided she wanted her weekends free again, so she stepped down. It’s good to see her back at it!
Tarbuck shared that she thoroughly enjoyed working with Keith and Rich. She noted that people thrive when surrounded by emotionally intelligent individuals, and that the support and kindness she received helped the beginner potters make wonderful progress, which she found very rewarding. She said she truly loved the experience.
Six celebrities, none of whom are experienced potters, will join Greg Tarbuck in the pottery studio. They’ll face a series of challenging tasks, testing their skills on the wheel and with clay.
The lineup of celebrities preparing to showcase their creative talents includes comedian Lucy Beaumont, comedian and author Fatiha El-Ghorri, comedian Richard Herring, football star Paul Merson, performer Layton Williams, and entertainer Denise Van Outen.

This season, instead of eliminating a contestant each week, the celebrities will have five full episodes to learn and improve their pottery skills with guidance from judges Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller.
Celebrities will face off in challenges to earn points and try to make it to the final round. Only one will be named the winner and champion of The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down.
Luke Byrne, from Love Productions, said they’re thrilled to be partnering with Channel 4 on this new show. The popularity of ‘The Great Pottery Throw Down’ proves people love watching pottery, and this series will offer a fascinating look at the challenges of learning the craft as celebrities give it a try. They hope it will inspire even more people to appreciate pottery.
Channel 4’s Deborah Dunnett said, “The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down is a truly lovely show. It’s the first time we’re seeing pottery from the perspective of complete beginners, and it’s great to watch them learn and create something special, culminating in a really impressive final result. We’re also delighted to have Liza join the show.”
