Scott Glenn, Denzel Washington, and now Yahya Abdul-Mateen II have all played the main character, ‘Creasy,’ in different versions of the story ‘Man on Fire,’ with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II starring in the newest Netflix adaptation.

This action thriller, adapted from the novels by AJ Quinnell, takes Creasy to Rio de Janeiro for a security assignment. He’s brought in by a former coworker, Rayburn, and quickly finds himself caught up in a dangerous new conflict.

After Rayburn is killed in an explosion that destroys his apartment building, Creasy promises to safeguard his friend’s daughter, Poe. She’s the only one who survives, but now she’s in danger because she saw one of the attackers.

Despite facing overwhelming challenges, he manages to succeed, and in doing so, reveals a conspiracy. He uncovers that the president of Brazil, the head of his security detail, and CIA agent Tappan – whom Poe saw at the crime scene – were all working together to create political chaos in Brazil for their own benefit.

But this is clearly just the beginning for Abdul-Mateen II’s Creasy, with Mexico City on the cards.

Has Netflix’s Man on Fire been renewed for season 2?

Netflix hasn’t confirmed if there will be more episodes yet, but the way season one ended suggests another season is likely. (We’ll explain more about that shortly.)

When could a potential Man on Fire season 2 be released?

With no prior seasons to go on, your guess is as good as ours.

Best case scenario is early 2027, but there’s every chance you could be waiting a lot longer.

Who could return for a potential Man on Fire season 2?

If the show is renewed for a second season, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is almost certainly returning to play John Creasy.

It’s likely Billie Boullet will return as Poe Rayburn, and Paul Ben-Victor’s character, CIA director Moncrief, will probably appear in a smaller role.

It seemed like Valeria Melo’s storyline had finished, leading us to believe Alice Braga wouldn’t be back. However, her character did make it through the first season, so a return isn’t impossible.

Familiar actors will be back, and a lot of new faces will join them for a fresh story.

What could happen in a potential Man on Fire season 2?

At the end of this chapter, Moncrief contacts Creasy with a tantalising offer.

No persuading is needed.

Creasy replies, “Send me everything you have.” He’s preparing to return to the location where his team was killed four years before, determined to find justice and finally find peace.

But the specifics of that remain to be seen.
