5 Best DC Comics of April, 2026, Ranked

The world of comic books is constantly evolving, with new issues and stories released all the time, competing for readers’ attention. Just this month, DC Comics released forty-four new titles – thirty-two regular series and twelve limited runs. Keeping up with everything DC publishes is a huge task, let alone comics from Marvel and other publishers. Many factors make it difficult to stay current – the cost, the time commitment, and simply not knowing which comics will be enjoyable or worthwhile.

Choosing comics at your local shop can be overwhelming, but we’re here to help! We’ve reviewed DC’s best releases from April 2026 and ranked the top five, considering both quality and value. DC has been consistently releasing fantastic comics lately, and you’ll enjoy any of them, but these five stand out. If you only get one comic this month, we recommend choosing from this list. Let’s get started!

5) Zatanna (2026) #1

Zatanna is returning in her own ongoing comic series, and it’s taking DC’s magic in a fresh direction. As DC’s version of a powerful magical protector, she’s responsible for defending magic and life throughout all realms. After being chosen as the first Prime Magus in thousands of years, Zatanna embarks on a journey to restore people’s faith in magic while uncovering dangerous secrets. The series is incredibly enjoyable and provides the perfect opportunity for Zatanna to achieve the recognition she deserves. Artist Jamal Campbell perfectly captures Zatanna’s personality – her intelligence and playful passion for magic shine through in every spell. This comic is essential reading for any Zatanna fan.

4) Absolute Wonder Woman #19

Absolute Universe remains a standout title this month. The latest issue, the second-to-last in the “Season of the Witch” arc, unveils a shocking secret about Diana and showcases the immense power of the Troika. The story is consistently escalating with each issue, delivering more action, deeper storytelling, and raw emotional moments. The reunion of Zatanna and Zatara is both touching and rewarding, while Cale’s reaction is delightfully unhinged. Wonder Woman’s current storyline is building towards a thrilling climax that promises even bigger stakes. If you’ve been following the series, this issue continues that momentum perfectly.

3) Absolute Superman #18

So, Absolute Wonder Woman is wrapping things up, but Absolute Superman just launched a new story arc called “Reign of the Superman,” and it’s fantastic! This issue is packed with two introductions I know fans will absolutely love. They’ve really shaken up Black Adam’s origin story, connecting him to one of Superman’s main enemies in a clever way – it gives you such a clear understanding of who he is and how different he is from Superman. Plus, the story really drives home the idea that revenge isn’t the answer, especially as we see Lois pursuing her own path. Honestly, Ra’s al Ghul’s storyline has been a highlight of this series for me, and this issue continues that momentum perfectly.

2) Fury of Firestorm #1

Following the strong debut of Absolute Superman, this issue of Firestorm is explosive. Firestorm is back with his own comic, but something is immediately off – he’s holding an entire town hostage! The government is helpless, as any bullets fired at him simply turn into harmless candy. One of DC’s most powerful heroes has gone rogue, and the reason behind it will fundamentally change his character. The comic expertly builds tension, giving us a glimpse into Firestorm’s mind while maintaining a compelling mystery. The opening pages are particularly memorable. The Nuclear Man has arrived, and things are about to get intense.

1) Superman (2023) #37

I’m really enjoying the current Prime Time series. It’s fantastic seeing Superboy-Prime fill in as Superman, and this issue takes a refreshing turn by focusing on his personal life. It explores the challenges he faces balancing superhero work with trying to build a normal life, and the difficult choices he makes that inevitably leave someone feeling let down. While there’s still plenty of exciting superhero action – including a visit to Gotham – the story also features touching moments with the Kent family and Robin. Superboy-Prime is developing into a compelling character, and his honest opinions at the local comic book store are a fun addition. This is easily my favorite comic of the month.
