This season of Pokemon Go hasn’t seen many updates, but the Steeled Resolve event is bringing some new content! Starting April 28th, players will be able to catch a new Pokemon originally found in the Paldea region. Even better for collectors, this event will also give players a rare chance to find and catch Shiny Meltan, which isn’t usually available in the game.
The annual Steeled Resolve event is back in Pokemon Go, and this year it features Pokemon from the newest generation! Starting April 28th, players can catch Orthworm, a brand-new Pokemon, for the very first time. Plus, lucky players with the necessary items will have a chance to find the rare Shiny Meltan, which is only available during special events like this one. Overall, Steeled Resolve is shaping up to be a particularly exciting event. It kicks off on April 28th at 10 AM local time and runs until May 4th at 8 PM local time, giving you about a week to participate.
How to Get Orthworm in Pokemon Go
Starting April 28th, players can get Orthworm, the newest Pokémon from the Paldea region, in Pokémon Go. While you won’t be able to find it by simply exploring, the good news is that Shiny versions of Orthworm will be available right away!
You can catch Orthworm in Pokemon Go by winning 3-Star Raids. Once you defeat Orthworm in a raid, you’ll have a chance to catch it!
Because Orthworm is a Steel-type Pokémon, Fire, Fighting, or Ground-type Pokémon will be most effective in the Raid battle. Although some 3-star Raids can be completed alone, you’ll need strong Pokémon to defeat Orthworm. Teaming up with one or two other trainers is your best bet to win and catch it in Pokémon Go.
How to Get Shiny Meltan in Pokemon Go
Meltan is a bit challenging to find in Pokemon Go because it takes more than just a simple catch. And the shiny version of Meltan is even rarer! Most shiny Pokemon are available after their initial release, but shiny Meltan only appears during certain events. The Steeled Resolve 2026 event is one of those times you can find it.
If you want to catch Meltan in Pokémon Go, you’ll first need a Mystery Box. You can get one by connecting your game to Pokémon HOME and sending a Pokémon, or by transferring a Pokémon to Let’s Go Pikachu! or Let’s Go Eevee.
After you get the Mystery Box, you’ll find it in the Trainer Boosts section of your Items list. Tap it there to use it – it works like a lure, attracting Meltan to you. Catch as many Meltan as possible while the Mystery Box is active for a chance to find a Shiny one! During the Steeled Resolve event, you’ll be able to use the Mystery Box more often, giving you even better chances. Even if you don’t have a Mystery Box, you’ll still have opportunities to catch Meltan with the event GO Pass.
During the Steeled Resolve event, you’ll have a better chance of finding Steel-type Pokémon like Meltan and Orthworm in the wild.
