Similar to what they did with Final Fantasy 7 Remake before its release, Square Enix has made a free demo of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth available. You can play it on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, and it’s also available for PC players through the Microsoft Store, which is great news since it isn’t on Steam.
This demo includes everything from the start to the end of Chapter 2, offering a significant amount of content without any cost. Plus, because you don’t have to advance to the Mythril Mine, you’re free to wander around, fight random battles, and enjoy the world at your own pace.
Another great thing is that your progress from the demo will carry over to the full game, giving you a head start with some helpful items and a special Kupo Charm that boosts resource gathering. You can even unlock Achievements or Trophies! Just remember not to start a new game save in the full game before transferring your demo data, or the transfer won’t work, though you’ll still get the bonus items.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (through the Microsoft Store) starting June 3rd. If you’re curious if the game is good, you can check out our reviews of the PS5 and PC versions. We also reviewed the original Final Fantasy 7 Remake on the Switch 2 and gave it a “Very Good” rating.
