Prime Video announced the release date for the highly anticipated second season of a popular series, marking a significant summer launch for the streaming service. In recent years, Prime Video has become a key platform for anime, even though some viewers haven’t been happy with their use of artificial intelligence for English dubbing. Despite this, Prime Video continues to secure exclusive anime licenses and produce original content.
The anime series From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman surprised many viewers with its initial release last spring and was quickly renewed for a second season. Now, with the Summer 2026 anime season approaching in July, a release date of July 8th has been confirmed. To get a sneak peek, you can watch the new trailer and view the poster for Season 2 below.
From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 Prime Video Release Date Revealed
Season 2 of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman arrives on July 8th as part of the Summer 2026 anime lineup. You’ll be able to watch it exclusively on Prime Video. The team behind the first season is back, including director Akio Kazumi at Passione and Hayabusa Film. Kunihiko Okada is writing the scripts again, Satsuki Hayasaka is handling character design, and Yasuharu Takanashi is composing the music. The original voice actors will also be returning.
The voice cast is returning with Hiroaki Hirata as Beryl Gardinant, Nao Toyama as Alluca Citrus, Hitomi Ueda as Surena Lysandra, Yuki Hirose as Curuni Crueciel, Hinaki Yano as Ficelle Harbeller, Chiwa Saito as Lucy Diamond, Kaito Ishikawa as Henblitz Drout, Arisa Nakada as Myui Flare, Ryota Osaka as Spur, Ai Kayano as Rose Marblehart, and Hidenobu Kiuchi as Gatoga Lazorne. The new opening theme, titled “Kurenai no Ha” and performed by Unicorn, is featured in the trailer.
What’s So Special About From Old Country Bumpkin?

While it didn’t initially appear to be a major hit, this anime series became incredibly popular with viewers on Prime Video during its first season, topping their streaming charts. Surprisingly, it hadn’t generated much discussion in wider anime communities. Viewers enjoyed its unique approach, especially its focus on an older main character, which set it apart from other fantasy anime being released at the time.
The show features an older main character who isn’t a superhero, but a very talented and down-to-earth swordsman who has stayed in practice. His battles are realistic and challenging, which makes his victories even more satisfying. It’s amusing to watch because everyone thinks he’s an unstoppable force. Definitely check it out and get caught up before the new season arrives this summer!
