As we head into the final episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, I’ve got to say, it’s still one of the strongest things Marvel’s put out recently. Now, Marvel is seemingly getting back on track – and it looks like Avengers: Doomsday could be a big turning point – but let’s be real, things haven’t been the same since Avengers: Endgame. Even if you weren’t among those who hated projects like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or Eternals, you probably sensed that something was off. There’s definitely been a noticeable dip in quality.
The initial excitement around the 2025 release of Daredevil: Born Again stemmed from the character’s popularity and the story’s promise. Thankfully, the first season lived up to expectations, and the second season was also generally well-received. However, as the show moves into its third season, it’s clear that Daredevil: Born Again needs a fresh storyline.
Daredevil: Born Again’s Focus On Kingpin Feels Overdone

Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, is a truly compelling Marvel villain – and it’s easy to see why he’s so popular with fans. He’s incredibly strong physically, but what makes him especially dangerous is his ability to use his political influence to control the city around him. Continuing the rivalry between Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk in the Daredevil: Born Again series was a smart move, providing a link to the previous Netflix show and helping it fit smoothly into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The first season of Daredevil: Born Again effectively established Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) as a growing threat, especially after he became mayor and started actively targeting vigilantes. This groundwork made his return as the central villain in season two feel fresh and compelling. Now, with season two wrapping up and season three approaching, it’s time for the show to move beyond Kingpin and introduce completely new storylines.
Season 2 featured significant developments for Fisk, including the death of his wife, Vanessa. However, using Kingpin as the primary villain is starting to feel repetitive, and a third season heavily focused on his conflict with vigilantes would likely exacerbate that feeling.
There Are Better Options For A Season 3 Story Arc

While the show continues to focus heavily on Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Daredevil: Born Again season 3 has many more compelling storylines it could explore – storylines that were actually hinted at in season 2. We don’t yet know how season 2 will conclude, but some characters are already proving more intriguing than Fisk, like the possibility of Heather becoming Lady Muse and the return of Bullseye.
I’ve been really hooked by Karen Page’s journey this season! It’s amazing to see her become this tough, no-holds-barred vigilante, even if it’s landed her in trouble with the law. It’s such a shift from season one – honestly, she barely featured then! I’m really excited to see them explore this darker side of her, and I think she deserves to be a bigger part of the story going forward.
Matt Versus Fisk Has Run Its Course

Regardless of which characters take center stage, the third season of Daredevil: Born Again really needs to move past the constant conflict between Daredevil and Wilson Fisk. While their rivalry is engaging, a story focused solely on that dynamic can’t stay fresh forever, and it would be disappointing if the show started to feel repetitive or stale.
With Vanessa’s death, Kingpin’s storyline risks becoming predictable. While he’ll likely keep targeting vigilantes, a key part of what made his character complex and interesting is now missing. Thankfully, Daredevil: Born Again has been a strong addition to the MCU so far, and hopefully season 3 will maintain that quality by exploring a fresh direction for the story.
