Tobin Bell, famous for his role in the Saw movies, has been in a lot of thrilling films throughout his career. One lesser-known highlight is Finders Keepers, a movie from over ten years ago that’s recently gained popularity thanks to Netflix.
The film Finders Keepers didn’t receive much praise from critics, which is typical for low-budget horror. However, some horror fans consider it a surprisingly good movie. Originally airing on SyFy in 2014, it largely disappeared from view until recently, when it unexpectedly climbed the Netflix charts. As of today, FlixPatrol reports it’s the 5th most popular movie on Netflix worldwide – an impressive achievement for a TV horror film released over a decade ago.
Tobin Bell Stars in the Hidden Gem
Bell played a leading role in the movie Finders Keepers, alongside Jaime Pressly (known from My Name Is Earl) and Patrick Muldoon (Starship Troopers), who recently passed away at the age of 57. The film also features Marina Sirtis (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Kylie Rogers (Yellowstone), and Justina Machado (Final Destination 2). Alexander Yellen directed Finders Keepers, based on a script by Jeffrey Schenck and Peter Sullivan.
The movie centers around Claire, a young girl who starts acting strangely after receiving an unusual doll. It turns out she’s being influenced by a spirit. Her parents become increasingly worried as her behavior gets more unpredictable and aggressive, realizing the doll is the source of the problem. They’re determined to help their daughter and break the spirit’s hold before the situation becomes catastrophic.
Finders Keepers Can Be Streamed on Netflix
If you’re a fan of Tobin Bell and enjoy his horror movies, Finders Keepers is definitely worth watching. He’s best known for his role in the Saw franchise, and he recently returned as the main character in the 2023 film, which received the best reviews of any movie in the series. Another Saw movie is planned, but it’s unknown if Bell will reprise his role as John Kramer. He also starred in the sci-fi horror film The Bunker alongside horror legend Tony Todd, who sadly passed away in 2024 at the age of 69.
In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Tobin Bell explained that when he made the first Saw movie, he didn’t expect a sequel. The film was a surprise success, leading to Saw II. That’s when he had the chance to really develop his character. They never anticipated a third film either, but because he was a central figure in the series, it gave him significant exposure. He also helped Lionsgate promote the movies by doing a lot of interviews, which further increased his recognition.
Finders Keepers is streaming on Netflix.
