Anna Wintour Turns Heads in Show-Stopping Feathered Look at Met Gala

Anna Wintour is the Met Gala queen. That’s all.

She’s back in her element, making a grand return on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She continues to lead the annual fundraiser, even though Chloe Malle has taken over her role at Vogue.

For the 2026 event, Anna creatively interpreted the “Costume Art” theme—and the idea that fashion is a form of art—with a stunning outfit. She wore a feathery turquoise jacket over a beautiful turquoise and black embroidered gown from Chanel.

The 76-year-old kept her signature bob and bangs, and wore her go-to oversized sunglasses. She completed the look with strappy black heels and a bold jeweled necklace. (You can see photos of all the celebrities here.)

Anna was one of the first to arrive on the white carpet, and she’ll soon be joined by this year’s Met Gala co-chairs: Beyoncé, who is returning to the event after ten years, along with Venus Williams and Nicole Kidman.

The announcement of two honorary chairs sparked some discussion. Lauren Sánchez Bezos and Jeff Bezos received the titles because they pledged to be the main donors for the 2026 Gala. Lauren has attended the event once before, and Jeff will be attending for the third time—he previously went in 2012 with his ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott.

Anna didn’t seem concerned by the excitement surrounding the appointment, and praised Lauren as a valuable addition to both the museum and the event.

Honestly, I was SO excited when I heard her involved! I saw the CNN interview, and the person said it best – we’re all just unbelievably grateful for how amazing she is and how generous she’s been. They were thrilled to have her, and believe me, we are too! It just makes the whole event even more special knowing she’s a part of it.

Chloe replaced Anna and became the new head of editorial content at Vogue in September.

Chloe, formerly the editor of Vogue.com, expressed her excitement and admiration for being involved in the rapidly changing worlds of fashion and media. In a press release, she also shared her gratitude for continuing to have Anna Wintour nearby as a mentor.

Chloe will still report to Anna, who recently became chief content officer at Condé Nast, the publisher of Vogue. In this new role, Anna will be in charge of content for brands including WIRED, Vanity Fair, GQ, Glamour, Bon Appétit, and others.

In June, when Anna announced her departure, she shared that she most enjoyed mentoring the next wave of editors and seeing them bring fresh perspectives to the media industry. She stated that finding someone with those same qualities is key for the next Head of Editorial Content (HOEC) at US Vogue.
