Nigella Lawson and Paul Hollywood’s Great British Bake Off “chemistry” teased by Alison Hammond

With the new season of The Great British Bake Off starting production, Alison Hammond has hinted at a strong connection and good rapport between judge Paul Hollywood and the show’s new celebrity guest judge, Nigella Lawson.

Nigella Lawson will be the new judge on the show, replacing Prue Leith, who left after joining in 2017 when the show moved to Channel 4. This change was announced earlier in the year.

I’m so excited for the new series! Alison Hammond, who works with Noel Fielding, has hinted at what’s coming, and she says the connection between Paul and Nigella is just unbelievable on screen. I can’t wait to see it!

Alison discussed the new series on Lorraine yesterday, May 4th, and revealed she’s been observing filming. She described the connection between the lead actress and Paul as truly remarkable.

Pointing to a large photo of Nigella and Paul on the screen, Alison said, “You can just tell, right? They’re both really attractive. Just look at them!”

They have a really great connection. Even though they don’t always see eye-to-eye, that’s actually what makes their relationship so wonderful!

Speaking on her own relationship with Nigella, Alison gushed that she is “lovely” and “incredible”.

Alison Hammond has been co-hosting the cosy baking show since 2020 when she replaced Matt Lucas.

Despite loving her work and calling it the best job imaginable, Prue Leith revealed in January that she plans to leave the show.

She happily welcomed the news of who would be taking over her role, describing Nigella Lawson as “really lovely, very glamorous, and incredibly smart, sexy, and spirited.” She also jokingly added that she was relieved Nigella wasn’t competing for the position nine years prior.

Mary Berry, one of the original judges on The Great British Bake Off, foresaw the great connection between Nigella Lawson and Paul Hollywood. She said she was thrilled about Nigella joining the show, believing she’d bring something special and that she and Paul would work wonderfully together.

As a huge Bake Off fan, I was thrilled to hear Channel 4 is shaking things up for the next series! Apparently, the 17th season will include something called ‘Audience Choice week,’ which sounds amazing. Basically, we – the viewers – get to suggest challenges for the bakers. It’s a really cool way to get us involved and I can’t wait to see what creative ideas people come up with!
