A recent Saturday Night Live UK sketch starring Aimee Lou Wood, which was very well-received, has led many fans to suggest she should be the next Doctor Who.
The actor known for Sex Education and White Lotus hosted the show this week, performing in several funny sketches. However, a comedic take on a popular science fiction series generated the most buzz.
Wood joined Hammed Animashaun’s Doctor as they stepped out of the TARDIS and met some fascinating aliens.
Now that Ncuti Gatwa, who starred with Emma Mackey in Sex Education, is the new Doctor, many fans think Mackey would be a fantastic addition to the show as well.
“AIMEE LOU WOOD AS THE DOCTOR MAKE IT HAPPEN PLS,” one fan said on X (formerly Twitter).

Many fans have suggested Aimee Lou Wood as a potential candidate to play the next Doctor, with some simply stating she’d be a great fit for the role.
Ncuti Gatwa, who played the Fifteenth Doctor, left the role in the episode ‘The Reality War,’ unexpectedly transforming into Billie Piper. While Piper returned to the show, it hasn’t been officially confirmed that she’s become the Sixteenth Doctor, leaving fans to speculate about what her role will be.

Recently, there’s been a lot of discussion about who should be the next Doctor Who. Fans of comedian Alan Davies have started a campaign for him, suggesting he’d still be a great fit after he shared an old article revealing he once auditioned for the role of the Ninth Doctor – a part that ultimately went to Christopher Eccleston.
Good news for Doctor Who fans: a special episode will air at Christmas, written by the show’s creator, Russell T Davies, and we’ll likely learn more about the future of the show then.
Catch the latest episode of Saturday Night Live UK on Saturday, May 9th at 10pm on Sky One and NOW. You can subscribe to Sky TV to tune in. And don’t forget, Doctor Who is coming back this Christmas on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
