After Watching That Unsettling Pluribus Teaser, I Have An Icky Theory About The New Apple TV+ Show From Breaking Bad’s Creator

A few days ago, I came across some intriguing artwork for an upcoming show on the 2025 TV lineup. The title and plot were unknown, only a mysterious image, a tagline, and a hint from ‘Breaking Bad’ creator Vince Gilligan that it would be “entertaining and unique” were given. There was also a countdown that ended today, unveiling additional details for the Apple TV+ series we can now call ‘Pluribus’. Though I’m relieved my curiosity and wait are finally rewarded, the disclosure leaves me feeling uneasy. Yet, it also sparked a theory in me…

Seriously, Who Licks Two Whole Boxes Of Donuts…

The brief trailer for Pluribus is remarkably straightforward yet eerily disturbing, to the point where I almost shared a play-by-play description to save Apple TV+ subscribers from viewing. However, to truly grasp the unease this topic evokes, I recommend watching it yourself; the visual experience is far more impactful than any words I could muster.

I’m sharing this, as someone who enjoys top-notch films revolving around such themes. Without any more ado, and a heads-up to those sensitive to germs, here’s the sneak peek you’ve been waiting for.

“This is coming from me, someone who appreciates the best ‘sick’ movies dealing with such subject matter. So, without further ado, and a warning for germaphobes, here’s the teaser.”)

Each time I read this announcement for Pluribus’ November 7th premiere, I notice more and more details. The scene depicted – vandalizing pastries, accompanied by ominous music and a sign saying “Take as Much as You Want!” – seems like a chilling image in our post-lockdown reality.

Enjoy the thrill of Apple TV+ at an irresistible price! For a limited time, you can get 70% off and start your adventure with a 7-day free trial. After that, it’s only $9.99 per month to immerse yourself in captivating original series such as “Severance,” “Slow Horses,” and “Silo.” Don’t miss out on this fantastic deal!

Apart from that, it seems the atmosphere resembles a school’s main hall, making things seem even more somber. However, it’s worth noting that Vince Gilligan’s previous work as a writer for the hit show The X-Files appears to be proving useful at this moment. This brings me back to my earlier question, as I think an individual who finishes off two entire boxes of donuts is truly extraordinary.

…Someone Who Wants To Start A Plague

a thrilling exploration…

The series ‘Pluribus’, which has been renewed for another season, offers an innovative take where the individual considered the most unhappy on Earth is tasked with preventing global joy and contentment.

Given that “many” is implied in the title and it’s recognized as part of the U.S.’s motto “Out of Many, One,” it seems plausible that this could be a domestic issue at least for the first season. This raises curiosity about what kinds of conflicts might arise to propel Season 2!

It’s possible that the final missing piece in my puzzle could be the mysterious promotional artwork they shared on their social media earlier this week, specifically related to “Breaking Bad.” The cryptic captions accompanying these images were all identical.

It appears we might encounter a pandemic, and this pathogen could lead to a situation reminiscent of a reverse “28 Days Later” scenario. Unlike carriers in that movie who spread violence by vomiting blood, the “Pluribus” hints at individuals being unable to stop smiling – at anyone they encounter! Yes, this sounds like something straight out of an alumnus from the X-Files writers’ room, where some of the most haunting TV episodes have originated.

With an unusual sense of excitement, exploring this trail of speculation about Pluribus really gets me pumped up. However, any tempting snacks like donuts or other food offered at large events will have to take a back seat for now. Interestingly enough, the November 7th premiere date feels incredibly fitting since Season 1 will be streaming on Apple TV+ from November 7th until December 26th – which is commonly known as cold and flu season!
