Two beloved PlayStation 1 games from 1996 and 1997 are getting completely rebuilt versions, and they’ll be available very soon. With PlayStation celebrating its 30th anniversary, many classic PS1 titles are now in demand by modern gamers. That’s why we’ve seen a lot of these older games updated and re-released recently, and now two more puzzle games that were popular on the original PlayStation are joining the list.
Cyan Worlds announced today that updated versions of the classic games Myst and Riven are coming to consoles. Myst, first released on PC in 1993, is a beloved puzzle game and is often considered one of the greatest in its genre. Its popularity led to a sequel, Riven, which was also very successful. Though primarily known as PC games, many console players first experienced these titles through their releases on the PlayStation 1.
Good news for fans of the classic adventure games Myst and Riven! Both are coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on May 19th. Myst and Riven will each cost $34.99 on PS5. Riven is coming to Xbox Series X/S on that date, while Myst is already available on that platform. Plus, players with a PlayStation VR2 headset will be able to experience both games in virtual reality. And for those with a PS5 Pro, Cyan has developed some graphical enhancements and optimizations to make the games look even better.
The release of updated versions of Myst and Riven on PS5 and Xbox isn’t a shock, as details appeared on the PlayStation Network earlier this year. Fans have been anticipating official confirmation ever since, and now it’s here! Luckily, players won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on these remakes.
