Matthew Perry’s Friends Collection Is Headed to Auction, Includes Signed Scripts From the Pilot

Even though Friends ended over 20 years ago after ten seasons, people are still discovering and enjoying the show. A big reason for its success was the incredible cast, and the late Matthew Perry played a key role. Next month, items from his personal Friends collection – including scripts and artwork – will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to the Matthew Perry Foundation.

Heritage Auctions is holding an auction featuring scripts from classic Friends episodes, some of which are signed by the cast (according to AP News). Highlights include a signed copy of the pilot episode – originally titled Six of One – with signatures from all six main actors: Perry, Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, and Schwimmer. Other items up for bid include a signed script from “The Last One: Part 1,” a collection of scripts from season 10, and a photo album from the show’s wrap party, containing a letter from Aniston to Perry. A replica of the famous peephole frame from the apartment door is also included. You can view the entire auction collection here.

The Matthew Perry Auction Also Features Awards, The Odd Couple Scripts, and Batman Memorabilia

The auction features items not only from the show Friends, but also many awards Matthew Perry received throughout his career. These include a Screen Actors Guild Award, a People’s Choice Award, an Emmy, several Kids Choice Awards, and more.

The auction also features items from Perry’s time on the TV show The Odd Couple, including two scripts, a notebook, and a signed photo of Tony Randall and Jack Klugman. Additionally, there’s a set of leather-bound scripts from some of his earlier films, like Fools Rush In, Imagining Emily, Edwards and Hunt (also known as Almost Heroes), Three to Tango, Servicing Sara, and a pilot episode that never aired called Maxwell’s House.

This collection features twenty scripts, including a version of Boys Will Be Boys known as Second Chance, The Whole Ten Yards, and an unbroadcast episode of Mad About You called When Ya Gotta Go. It also includes a later draft of Fools Rush In, plus Perry’s script from when he hosted Saturday Night Live. The SNL materials are included, featuring popular sketches like Celebrity Jeopardy, Friends, and Sarcasm 101.

The auction features several Batman collectibles, including a unique framed 3D portrait of Perry as ‘Mattman’ wearing a Batman mask – originally used on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Other items include a custom Batman ping pong table, a Dark Knight Rises watch, various Hot Toys Batman figures, a Batmobile replica (Tumbler), a Dark Knight cowl from the Noble Collection, a Batman gaming chair, and a LEGO Batcave display, among other things.

The Matthew Perry Foundation is dedicated to fighting the shame associated with addiction and supporting people recovering from substance abuse. This auction will help them continue this important work. According to the foundation’s CEO, Lisa Kasteler Calio, Matthew Perry believed in treating addiction with kindness and scientific understanding, not judgment or secrecy. The funds raised will help the foundation provide effective, evidence-based treatment and reduce stigma, ensuring that those struggling with addiction know they are not alone.

The Matthew Perry Foundation auction will conclude on Friday, June 5th.
