After a three-year wait, new episodes of the incredibly expensive TV show are finally here! Season two of the spy thriller, available on Prime Video, has just been released, and all seven episodes are available to stream now.
I’m so excited that Season 2 of Citadel is finally here on Prime Video! It’s a huge show – they spent around $300 million just on the first six episodes, making it one of the most expensive series ever, right up there with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The story follows Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra, who play top spies whose memories are erased when their agency is taken down by a dangerous group called Manticore. Now, years later, they’ve teamed up again to try and save the world. All seven episodes of the new season dropped on May 6th, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!
Prime Video’s Citadel Is a Fast-Paced, High-Octane Spy Thriller Worth Watching
Despite a large budget and famous actors, Citadel isn’t the greatest spy thriller ever made, but it’s a perfectly enjoyable option for fans of the genre. Critics were divided, giving the first season a 51% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and calling it a visually impressive but somewhat shallow show. However, general audiences found it to be a fun, if predictable, spy adventure. Citadel is a stylish, action-packed series that takes inspiration from films like James Bond and Mission: Impossible. It offers exciting, cinematic action and cool gadgets without being overly complicated. The show also benefits from a fantastic cast, with Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden having great on-screen chemistry.
Season 2 ramps up the excitement and expands the world of the show. Mason, Nadia, and Bernard are thrown into a dangerous new mission when a fresh threat appears. To stop a conspiracy that could change the future of humanity, they need to gather a team of unexpected allies, all while dealing with personal setbacks and trying to rebuild their lives. Early reviews are starting to come in, and Archi Sengupta of Leisure Byte notes that while the show still has trouble fully living up to its grand scope, Season 2 of Citadel is “more polished and concise,” and delivers even more thrilling action, including impressive shootouts and large-scale scenes that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Will There Be a Citadel Season 3?
Those hoping for a second season of Citadel will need to wait. Amazon Prime Video hasn’t announced whether the show will continue or not, and a decision likely depends on how many people watched and how well the new episodes were received by critics and viewers. Interestingly, the show was renewed for Season 2 before the first season even premiered.
