Over its many years, One Piece has featured a wide range of stories as the Straw Hat Pirates navigate the Grand Line, meeting both friends and foes. While Luffy pursues his dream of becoming the Pirate King, some story arcs haven’t resonated with fans as much as others. The Skypeia arc, in particular, has often been a point of contention. Now, an actor known for their work in the MonsterVerse is publicly sharing their opinion on what they consider the weakest arc in One Piece.
I’m a huge fan of O’Shea Jackson Jr. – it’s awesome seeing Ice Cube’s son kill it in Hollywood! He’s already been in some amazing movies like Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Straight Outta Compton, Cocaine Bear, and Den of Thieves. But here’s a surprise: he’s a One Piece fan! However, he recently shared something pretty shocking – he absolutely hates the Thriller Bark arc. He was totally honest on social media, saying it really tested his patience and even called it a “Scooby Doo a arc” that could “go to hell”! It’s funny to hear what even fans dislike, and this one definitely got a reaction!
Honestly, I know this story has some important parts, but getting through the ‘Thriller Bark’ arc was a real struggle. That Scooby Doo-like storyline was just frustrating.

Thriller Bark Controversy
While some people didn’t enjoy the Thriller Bark arc, it was a significant moment for the Straw Hat Pirates because it introduced Brook, the musician. After their adventure on the spooky, zombie-filled ship, Brook joined Luffy’s crew. The arc’s villain, Gecko Moria, stole people’s shadows to build his own army. Though the villains in this arc were quite unusual, One Piece fans often criticize other storylines, like Skypeia, as being the weakest in the series.
I was so excited to see characters from the Thriller Bark arc pop up in the recent live-action One Piece on Netflix! It was a real treat seeing Brook and getting a glimpse of the Rumbar Pirates much earlier in the story than in the manga or anime. They even showed Brook as a human, which was amazing! Martial T. Batchamen absolutely nailed the role. And honestly, hearing “Binks’s Brew” performed live was a highlight – it really gave me a taste of what a live-action Thriller Bark could be like. That arc is packed with zombies and crazy supernatural stuff, so I’m really curious to see how they pull it off when they eventually get to it. Bringing characters like Brook, Dr. Hogback, and Moria to life will be a huge challenge, but I’m hopeful!
