It’s awful when her coworker is killed, and it gets even more disturbing because Alice realizes this isn’t random. The shooter gets on the radio and tells her he chose her, specifically because of her job in the pharmaceutical industry. It’s a really intense setup!

Throughout the night, Alice desperately struggles to survive, first by trying to reason with the shooter, then by using anything she can find in the store to escape. Everything changes when an elderly couple arrives and is killed, leaving their granddaughter in danger. Alice then shifts her focus entirely to protecting the child, determined to help her survive, even if it means sacrificing herself.

While Night of the Hunted might not be the most famous thriller, it’s likely one of the most overlooked gems of recent years. It follows a familiar survivor story structure, but this actually enhances the experience, making it both comfortable and surprisingly new. The film truly shines with its suspense and action, which are consistently well-timed and keep you on the edge of your seat with little downtime.

Will Night of the Hunted Ever Get a Sequel?

Shudder, the streaming service that released the film, hasn’t announced any plans for a sequel, and that’s consistent with their usual approach. Shudder generally prefers to create original, standalone stories rather than sequels. While this strategy hasn’t always worked, it’s also led to some surprising successes, including Night of the Hunted itself.

Even though a sequel to Night of the Hunted isn’t planned right now, Shudder offers a lot of other excellent horror films. Their newest movie is Push, about a pregnant real estate agent who gets stuck in a house with a dangerous serial killer. Shudder also has new installments of horror series like Hell Motel. So, even if Night of the Hunted doesn’t get a continuation, fans still have plenty of scary options.
