James Ransone’s wife is grateful for her inner circle.
Five months after the death of actor Michael K. Williams, his wife, Jamie McPhee, posted a heartfelt message celebrating their son Jack’s 7th birthday. In the post, she also spoke about the support she’s received from others since her husband’s passing.
Jamie shared on Instagram that her son, Jack, turned 7 on May 6th. She also has a 4-year-old daughter named Violet. Jamie described Jack as handsome, funny, strong-willed, and loving, saying her family wouldn’t change a thing about him and that they love him very much.
The caption was accompanied by a slideshow of heartwarming family photos spanning Jack’s life.
Jamie later shared how much she appreciates the support of her friends and family since her husband passed away in December, saying it truly takes a community to get through tough times.
She continued, sharing how much they appreciate everyone. She expressed gratitude for the incredible support, love, kindness, and even the shared tears and laughter over the past five months. She realized that each day is precious and wanted to celebrate Jack with everyone. She ended with a heartfelt thank you.
It’s been so hard since Bill lost his battle, and as a longtime fan, I’ve been really moved by how Jamie has handled things. She’s been sharing such sweet memories of him online, and always focuses on how strong their kids are – it’s a beautiful way to honor his memory.
In a recent post, Jamie shared heartfelt feelings, writing, “I’ve loved you countless times, and I know I’ll love you again.” They also expressed gratitude for their partner, noting how they both inspire each other to grow. Jamie went on to say that their partner, along with their children Jack and Violet, are the greatest gifts they could ask for, and that their love will last forever.
She shared that while her husband’s death was incredibly painful, it also brought an unexpected blessing.

As a longtime follower of Jamie’s work, I’ve always been struck by the sheer number of stories they’ve collected. It’s incredible to think about all the connections being rediscovered, the friendships mending after so much time apart, and the courage people find to finally speak their truths. What really gets to me, though, is how Jamie captures the way even old, deep-seated pain can begin to ease – it’s a beautiful thing to witness, even just through their writing.
She remembered a heartfelt conversation with her husband shortly before he passed away. He had told her, simply, that he loved everyone.
“Well babe, it turns out that despite all of it,” she added, “Everyone actually loves you too.”
