Okay, so a movie for Elden Ring is finally happening! Details are super scarce right now, but some pictures from the set have leaked, and honestly, it looks amazing – really grounded and practical, which is awesome. From what we’ve gathered, it seems like the studio and Alex Garland are planning to basically retell the story of the game, which I’m totally okay with!
We know the actors, but not the characters they’ll be playing yet, which means we can speculate! Let’s focus on which supporting characters – the NPCs – should appear in the Elden Ring movie, since we can already assume major figures like Marika, Radagon, and Radahn will definitely be included.
11. Merchant Kalé
Merchant Caravan

Early in Elden Ring, players will encounter Kalé, a solitary merchant. He can be found inside a ruined church, keeping a fire lit.
He’s among the very first characters you meet who explains what’s going on in The Lands Between, and he’s the first to actually help you out with some useful advice.
It’s unclear if the filmmakers intend to include the Frenzied Flame story arc, but casting Kalé could open up that possibility. Even if they decide against it, having Kalé appear would be a great way to reveal some backstory – perhaps she could tell the hero what happened to the merchants before the Great Caravan fell apart.
10. Blaidd
The Friendly Wolf
As a huge Elden Ring fan, I’m still amazed by Blaidd’s questline – it’s seriously one of the longest and most involved ones in the game! It usually starts when Kalé mentions a strange wolf-man hanging around the forest. If you track Blaidd down, he sends you on a journey that eventually leads to finding Raya Lucaria Academy and talking to the blacksmith, Iji. It’s a wild ride!
Blaidd guides you towards the hidden Siofra River ruins and will assist during the Radahn Festival. Given Radahn’s likely importance to the overall story, it’s logical that Blaidd appears.
Given Ranni’s importance to the story, it’s natural that Blaidd, as her devoted follower, would also be part of it. Ben Whishaw would be a great choice to play him.
9. Patches
He’s in Everything
Every game made by FromSoftware in the Souls series includes the same recurring character. His name is Patches, and he’s known for trying to trick players into deadly situations.
In the first Dark Souls game, this character lets you struggle, points out fake items, and even tries to trick you into falling to your death. He does the same thing in every game, yet we still work to unlock him as a shopkeeper. He’s been pulling these pranks on players since the very first Demon’s Souls!
You can find Patches in Elden Ring as well. He initially appears as a boss, but will flee if you damage him enough. After that encounter, he becomes a traveling merchant who shares some interesting backstory details. He also happens to be located along the path leading to Rykard, a key boss in the game.
Look, I know Patches doesn’t seem like a huge deal, but he has to be in the game. Seriously, it wouldn’t feel right – like something’s missing. It’s a FromSoftware game, and Patches is just… part of the experience, you know?
8. The Finger Readers
And Enia
We expect the Two Fingers to be central characters in the Elden Ring movie, and if they are, Enia will likely appear as well. That’s because she’s the one who understands and explains what the Two Fingers want.
Once the Two Fingers reject the demigods, the player character, known as the Tarnished, begins their quest to defeat the game’s powerful bosses. Having Enia present feels crucial, as she guides the player through the unfolding story.
Throughout the game, you’ll encounter ghostly figures called Finger Readers who offer hints about where to go next. If Enia, a specific Finger Reader, isn’t present, others will still appear to help guide you through most of the story.
7. Sorceress Sellen
Learn Some Magic
Sorceress Sellen is a key character for players who want to learn magic in Elden Ring. She introduces you to Glintstone sorceries and will teach you more spells if you find and give her the right scrolls.
Although it’s unlikely the movie could cover her whole backstory – including her expulsion from the Academy of Raya Lucaria for researching the Primeval Current – it would be great to see her appear as a mentor or guide to the story’s protagonist.
Because her story connects to both Jerren and Radahn, it’s likely she’ll appear in the movie. She could be a helpful character who guides players to the academy, or even play a role in their failure.
6. White Mask Varré
Leading to Mohg
White Mask Varré is the very first character you’ll meet in Elden Ring. He’s positioned right outside the tomb, ready to greet you as you enter The Lands Between.
At first, he leads players towards Stormveil Castle to encounter Godfrey. But later, his guidance takes a turn, directing them to the completely different location of Mohgwyn’s Palace, where they can find Mohg, the Lord of Blood.
Varré could convincingly play a villain, someone who tempts the hero to stray from their path, or even an ally who helps in a manipulative way that the hero eventually turns against.
The Lands Between just wouldn’t be the same without Varré there, waiting for players to appear. He’s a vital part of the experience.
5. Hyetta
Blind Follower
Shabriri and Hyetta both need to be included in the movie adaptation. In the game, players collect Shabriri Grapes for Hyetta, which sets her on a path towards the Three Fingers and eventually leads the player to discover the Frenzied Flame.
Hyetta appears to help the player character rescue a woman, but her guidance actually leads to ruin and disorder. When you give her the Shabriri Grapes, she descends into madness, eventually connecting with the Three Fingers and urging the player to embrace the Frenzied Flame.
This moment in the movie could be crucial, as Hyetta attempts to distract the hero from their companion and tempt them with a deal that would unleash turmoil upon The Lands Between.
4. Iron Fist Alexander
Our Jar Lad
Okay, so Alexander is seriously one of my favorite characters in Elden Ring! You first find him hilariously stuck in the ground, and if you help him out, it kicks off this amazing questline. It’s a bit bittersweet, though, because it actually ends with you having to fight and defeat him. It’s a tough battle, but totally worth it for the story!

If you choose to summon Alexander during the festival, he’ll be a key ally in your fight against Radahn. Given how important Radahn seems to be to the overall story, it makes sense that Alexander would be there to assist the main character.
The movie could feature Alexander appearing at crucial times to help the main character, and there’s even a possibility of a fight between them. Plus, Nick Offerman is confirmed to be in the cast, and many fans are hoping he’ll play Alexander.
3. Gideon Ofnir
The All-Knowing
Okay, so The Lands Between is seriously massive and can be really disorienting. As the Tarnished, you’re basically dropped in and expected to figure things out, learning about your goals as you go. And if you want to really learn stuff? Gideon Ofnir, The All-Knowing, is the guy you need to talk to. He’s the one NPC who immediately comes to mind when I think about understanding what’s going on in this world.
You can find him at Roundtable Hold, and he spends the game informing you about the demigods you need to overcome. He’d definitely play the part of a wise mentor, guiding the player character through the world of The Lands Between.
Gideon could also be a rival to the main character, betraying them right before they’re about to succeed and becoming a final obstacle to overcome.
2. Melina
Your Maiden
Melina is a mysterious but incredibly helpful character in Elden Ring. She offers to guide you on your journey to become Elden Lord, acting as your Maiden and providing essential support along the way.
To stay true to the game’s story, the movie will likely need to include Melina. Without her, the main character, the Tarnished, wouldn’t have a guiding purpose, and the story wouldn’t progress. Bringing Melina in could also allow for other compelling characters, such as Hyetta, to appear.
Melina consistently warns you against seeking out the Frenzied Flame, and will abandon you if you do. It’s possible the story will ultimately follow that path, leading to a scenario where Melina is compelled to pursue and fight you.
