As a huge Zelda fan, I’m getting really excited! Nintendo might have just given us our first hint that the rumors about a Switch 2 remake of Ocarina of Time are true. There was a big report last month saying Nintendo was planning this remake for late 2026, and while Nintendo hasn’t officially said anything, they just made a statement that seems to be hinting at it. It’s not a confirmation, but it’s definitely got me hoping!
Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa recently revealed that the company plans to release more Switch 2 games later this year than they’ve already announced. They currently have several major titles scheduled, including Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Star Fox, Splatoon Raiders, and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. While it’s not surprising they have more games in development, this news increases the possibility that one of those unannounced titles could be the long-awaited remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Nintendo plans to release a lot of new games for the Switch 2. According to Furukawa, they’ll make sure to highlight what makes each game special so players can upgrade when they’re ready. They’re working on a diverse range of titles, not just the big, well-known ones, and have even more games in development for later this year beyond what’s already been announced. Details about these upcoming titles will be shared when they’re ready.

The possibility of a remake of Ocarina of Time is gaining traction because the source who initially revealed its existence also accurately predicted a new Star Fox game for the Switch 2. With Nintendo officially announcing that Star Fox game last week, the chances of a new Ocarina of Time version seem even higher. Plus, this year is the 40th anniversary of the original The Legend of Zelda, so Nintendo likely wants to mark the occasion with a significant release.
Nintendo might announce a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time within the next month. They usually hold a presentation in June to reveal upcoming games, and while a June presentation for 2026 hasn’t been confirmed yet, an announcement could arrive soon. We’ll share any updates here on ComicBook as soon as they’re available.
