Survivor Host Jeff Probst’s Brother Scott Dies

Jeff Probst’s family is dealing with a difficult loss.

The Survivorhost’s youngest brother Scott Probst has died, his family shared May 11.

Brent Probst shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram that his brother, Scott, has passed away. He described Scott as a wonderful brother, son, and friend, and said he will be deeply missed.

The cause of Scott’s death hasn’t been released. He was a member of the crew for the CBS show from 2006 to 2012.

As someone who follows the Survivor world closely, it was really touching to see so many from the show reaching out with support for Jeff Probst and his family during a difficult time. It just shows the strong bonds they all share, even off-screen.

Season 33 winner Adam Klein expressed his deep sympathy for Brent, writing, “Sending love to you and your family.”

Teeny Chirichillo, a contestant from season 47, shared their condolences, saying, “Thinking of you and your family. I’m so sorry.”

Brent’s daughter, Amanda Probst, who is currently dating Austin Li Coon, a finalist from season 45, also posted a heartfelt message about her uncle Scott, saying she couldn’t believe she was having to write it.

I’m absolutely heartbroken. Seriously, I can’t even find the words to explain how sad I am right now. She posted on Instagram about her uncle, and it just… wrecked me. She loved him SO much, and said she’s going to miss him every single day. ‘Love you forever, Uncle Scott,’ she wrote, and I just… ugh. It’s just awful. I feel like I’m grieving with her, honestly. He sounded like an amazing uncle.

Since Survivor first aired on CBS in 2000, Jeff’s family has become involved in the show’s production. His son, Scott, initially worked as an art assistant on several episodes from 2006 to 2008. Later, between 2011 and 2012, Scott joined the camera crew, working as a camera assistant, operator, and grip.

Jeff’s niece, Abby Probst, had also been part of the Survivor team for several seasons – she’s Brent’s other daughter.

Although Jeff hosts, produces, and oversees the show, he strongly believes that his family’s contributions should be judged on their own merit, not simply because of their connection to him.

He told People magazine in September that Abby initially faced some attention because of her family name, but she earned the position and subsequent requests to return based on her own merits.

Jeff explained that each department operates independently. He acknowledged it might seem strange given her last name is Probst, but emphasized she’s only returning because she’s proven herself capable.
