Enthusiasts of the Silent Hill video game series received some fresh insights this week about the mysterious standalone project titled “Silent Hill: Townfall“. Recently, the developer, Screen Burn Interactive, announced that they had reached “the end of Act 1” in their studio. They hinted that they were transitioning into “Act 2” with a new post on their official website. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this original Silent Hill installment ever since it was unveiled in 2022, but updates on its development have been scarce until now.
On their Scottish website after nearly three years, the team behind the development made a substantial update regarding “Silent Hill: Townfall”. They announced a studio name change from No Code to Screen Burn. Although they remained silent about details of their Silent Hill game, they did confirm that it was their largest project so far and work on it continues.
5 years ago, my gaming journey took an incredible turn as I joined forces with the fantastic folks at Devolver Digital to bring you ‘Stories Untold’ and ‘Observation’. After that, destiny led me to cross paths with Annapurna Interactive and KONAMI. Lo and behold, a dream project dropped onto my desk – SILENT HILL: Townfall, our most ambitious game yet!
The Screen Burn team openly shared their challenges during the COVID-19 lockdowns, struggles they’re still working hard to overcome. They underscored that they are a small development team devoted to realizing their dream for Silent Hill, assuring fans that their persistence will ultimately pay off.
The team has expanded since we began developing a concept during lockdown. We’re continuing to work on this project today, meticulously crafting it, which is turning out to be quite challenging. We can’t wait to reveal more of what we’ve been working on, and we’re getting closer every day. However, as a small team, we’re creating a substantial game, so please bear with us as we finish up. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
The game titled “Silent Hill: Townfall” was first unveiled during Konami’s video event called “Silent Hill Transmission” in 2022, along with a few other series projects. An engaging teaser for the game sparked enthusiasm among fans about its potential, yet specific details regarding game mechanics, storyline, or characters remained scarce as they were not explicitly shown in the stylish preview.
Among all the announcements, this one excites me the most! It reminds me of Silent Horror Town (Silent Hill) the closest, except for the remake, as expressed by YouTube user InsanityMan in reaction to the Silent Hill: Townfall teaser.
Over time, with minimal updates on the series, the game had become an ominous presence in the minds of dedicated fans whenever new game announcements were made. In today’s gaming world saturated by remakes of classic titles, this enigmatic standalone game was bound to ignite curiosity among long-term enthusiasts.
This past week, someone who’s well-known in the gaming community as Dusk Golem shared information they had obtained about the remake of Silent Hill 1 and hinted that the mysterious game Silent Hill: Townfall might be slated for a 2026 launch.
Despite the developers’ updates and predictions from experts within the gaming industry, fans remain unsure about the nature of the game Silent Hill: Townfall. It would be quite ironic if, after years of speculation, the game ultimately turned out to be a Silent Hill pachinko machine. In fact, Konami is known for converting its intellectual properties into pachinko machines, and they released a Silent Hill version as far back as 2015.
