Alan Ritchson’s The Man with the Bag Gets Prime Video Release Date

After being announced three years ago, the movie finally has a release date. Unfortunately, it won’t be in cinemas – Amazon MGM Studios is releasing it directly on their streaming service.

Prime Video announced on X that the movie The Man with the Bag will be available to stream starting December 2, 2026. They also shared a trailer (seen below) and revealed the first tagline: “The only heist that won’t land you on the naughty list.”

It’s Been a Long Time Coming for The Man with the Bag

Development on the film The Man with the Bag began at Amazon in June 2023, with Alan Ritchson set to star. Adam Shankman was slated to direct, and Allan Rice wrote the script. Arnold Schwarzenegger joined the cast less than a year later, in March 2024, and in January 2025, Awkwafina, Liza Koshy, Kyle Mooney, Ken Jeong, Michael Cyril Creighton, Adrian Martinez, and Roger Bart were added to the film’s ensemble.

In the movie The Man with the Bag, Santa Claus needs help when his magical bag of presents is stolen. Surprisingly, he turns to his naughty list for assistance! He recruits Vance (Ritchson), a recently released prisoner who’s trying to live an honest life and enjoy a peaceful Christmas with his family. Vance, along with his daughter and a quirky team of elves, must then attempt a daring heist to save the holiday.

Prime Video Remains All in on Alan Ritchson

Prime Video will release The Man with the Bag, the second film featuring actor Alan Ritchson since he began playing Jack Reacher in the hit series Reacher. His first movie with the streamer, Playdate, was released in November and surprisingly became popular, even though critics didn’t like it.

The popularity of the series Reacher has opened doors for Alan Ritchson, leading to roles in several new films. His action movie War Machine was released on Netflix in March, and his 1970s-set thriller Motor City will be in theaters in July, with more projects on the way.

Ritchson is currently filming another movie with Amazon MGM Studios, a biopic about former Navy SEAL Michael E. Thornton. Ritchson will play Thornton in the film, which is directed by Patrick Hughes and also stars Joe Cole, Kyle Allen, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Prime Video has more Reacher content on the way for fans. Season four, adapted from Lee Child’s Gone Tomorrow, has finished filming and will be released later this year. Amazon also just confirmed a fifth season this week, though the book it will be based on hasn’t been announced yet.

The Man with the Bag arrives on Prime Video on Dec. 2.
