Martin Scorsese & Oscar Isaac’s New 8-Part Netflix Crime Thriller Gets Official Title

Martin Scorsese and Oscar Isaac’s new crime thriller series finally has a name.

Last week, it was revealed that the highly-regarded director and actor are collaborating on a new eight-episode Netflix series set in the Las Vegas gambling scene. Both will also serve as executive producers. Oscar Isaac stars as Robert “Bobby Red” Redman, the head of the city’s most profitable casino, and a man who’s willing to take chances to stay on top.

I’m really excited about this new series coming to Netflix! It’s officially titled The Roman, and the cast is fantastic – Oscar Isaac is leading, with Betty Gilpin, Alec Baldwin, and David Costabile all joining him. What’s even cooler is that it’s being created by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, the team behind Billions, which I absolutely loved – they even worked with Aaron Ross Sorkin on that one!

I’m so excited about this cast! Gilpin is absolutely perfect as Marla Blake, Bobby Red’s wife – she’s a lawyer who’s just as in the know about Vegas as he is. And Baldwin as Paul “Primo” Clark? Brilliant casting – he’s playing this mentor-like figure, a real father figure to Bobby. Then there’s Costabile as Bill Saverick, the owner of a rival casino, and I’m already anticipating the drama as he’s torn between loyalty to Bobby and what’s best for his business. It’s going to be fantastic!

Isaac recently starred in and helped produce the second season of the popular Netflix series Beef, which premiered on April 16th. Before that, he played the lead role in Netflix’s Frankenstein, directed by Guillermo del Toro. His latest project, The Roman, continues his successful partnership with Netflix and adds to the growing number of collaborations they’ve done together.

More to come…
