Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in Euphoria, achieved her biggest box office success to date with the film The Housemaid in December 2025. Now, almost six months later, a new film is set to take its place.
During Disney’s presentation on May 13th, the studio revealed that several popular shows will be returning, including existing series and further information about Season 13 of American Horror Story. They also announced new programming, with Count My Lies set to premiere as a strong successor to the network’s previous psychological thriller.
What Happens in Count My Lies?
A new Hulu series centers around a nanny who discovers unsettling secrets about the couple she works for.
The series will star Shailene Woodley (from Big Little Lies) and Kit Harington (known for Game of Thrones), playing characters named Sloane Caraway, Jay Lockhart, and Violet Lockhart. The three actors were present to preview the new limited series.
I’m really excited about the cast of ‘Count My Lies’! Katherine LaNasa, who I loved in ‘The Pitt,’ is going to play Sloane’s mom, Tracy. And Sophia Bush, from ‘One Tree Hill,’ will be Allison – a super chic architect and mom living in Tribeca. Plus, Lou Diamond Phillips is joining as Tracy’s boyfriend, Paul. It’s shaping up to be a great show!
Similar to The Housemaid, Count My Lies is adapted from a popular book – Sophie Stava’s 2025 novel of the same title. It’s been praised as a fast-paced and gripping story with a shocking conclusion.
The new series centers around Sloane Caraway, a habitual liar who talks her way into a nanny job for the attractive and charming couple, Violet and Jay Lockhart. It seems like the perfect opportunity, but Sloane quickly discovers she’s stepped into a home full of hidden secrets that are about to come to light – and the fallout could be devastating.
Although the series was initially mentioned in early 2025, the recent announcement officially confirms it’s in production. It’s created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who are also known for their work on This Is Us.
Sydney Sweeney’s The Housemaid Also Continues
As a film fan, I was really excited about this thriller, and it definitely delivered! Not only did it make almost $400 million worldwide on a budget of just $35 million – that’s incredible! – but critics and audiences seemed to genuinely enjoy it. It earned a ‘Certified Fresh’ rating with 73% positive reviews, and even better, a whopping 92% of viewers loved it, especially since it stayed pretty true to the source material.
Following the success of Frieda McFadden’s novel, The Housemaid, and the release of two follow-up books, Lionsgate has quickly confirmed a sequel movie, with production scheduled to begin later this year.
Currently, Count My Lies is planned as a limited series, and there are no confirmed plans for a book sequel. However, other shows like Big Little Lies, The White Lotus, and Nine Perfect Strangers have successfully transitioned from limited series into full seasons, proving it’s possible with a compelling story.
Production for the upcoming series, Count My Lies, began on April 8th, as announced by Hulu and Disney+ on social media. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, it’s expected to debut later this year.
