007 First Light Has Gone Gold

IO Interactive has confirmed that 007 First Light is finished with development and ready for release in two weeks. The game is being sent to be manufactured and prepared for online stores, but a launch-day update is planned. You’ll actually need to download this update even if you want to play the game offline.

Despite the setbacks, this release is a big achievement for IOI, the game developer. They had previously pushed back the game’s launch by two months to refine it, and then delayed the Nintendo Switch 2 version until later this summer, explaining they needed extra time to guarantee a high-quality experience.

Releasing on May 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, 007 First Light tells the story of how James Bond became the famous spy we know today. The 20-hour campaign follows Bond as he transitions from the Royal Navy to MI6, learning the ropes and evolving from a reckless newcomer into the suave and strategic agent of legend.

IOI, the studio behind Hitman, is using what they learned from that game to create the stealth and open-ended environments in the new Bond game. However, they’re also drawing on Bond’s personality to add features like bluffing, hand-to-hand combat, and shooting. You can find a detailed feature about the game here, and the complete PC system requirements are available here.
