The next Pokémon games, Winds and Waves, are planned to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, and Nintendo has started promoting them. They recently released a video showing how the new main theme song for Pokémon Winds and Waves was recorded. You can watch the video below.
The NHK Symphony Orchestra performed the song for the recording, and it includes a diverse range of instruments – everything from pianos and violins to various wind instruments like flutes and trombones.
The next generation of Pokémon games, titled Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, will introduce players to a brand-new region that appears to be heavily focused on water. Trailers have shown diverse environments to explore, including underwater areas, forests, beaches, and charming towns. Players will also be able to choose from three new starter Pokémon: Browt (Grass-type), Pompon (Fire-type), and Gecqua (Water-type).
The new games feature lots of new Pokémon to catch and battle, but also include favorites from older games, like Tangela, Krabby, Wailord, and of course, Pikachu!
We don’t know much about the upcoming Pokémon Winds and Waves games yet, but the official website has given us a glimpse of what to expect. The games, launching next year, will be open-world, letting players explore stunning islands and a large ocean. Pokémon in this new region will live alongside nature, having created their own unique habitats and ways of life.
The latest Pokémon game, Pokémon Pokopia, came out on Nintendo Switch in March and has been a huge hit. It received a lot of positive reviews and quickly became incredibly popular. Nintendo reported that over 2.2 million copies were sold in just the first four days, with about 1 million of those sales happening in Japan. The game was so successful that it even temporarily boosted Nintendo’s stock price.
Koei Tecmo, the company that assisted with the creation of Pokémon Pokopia, has increased its financial predictions for the year ending in March 2026 due to the game’s strong performance. They announced results were better than anticipated, and that overall, the company has surpassed its original forecasts significantly.
