Dead Rising Franchise Still Alive as Capcom Considers Sequels, Remakes

Capcom is still thinking about making new Dead Rising games or remaking older ones, even though there haven’t been any releases in a while.

The original Dead Rising game received a PS5 remaster in 2024, but the last major installment, Dead Rising 4, came out in 2016. Recently, the series appeared in a Capcom presentation highlighting it as one of the company’s most important brands.

This game joins a strong group of popular series like Devil May Cry, Okami, Dragon’s Dogma, Ace Attorney, Onimusha, and Mega Man. Capcom plans to expand all of these franchises with new games, continuations of existing stories, updated versions of older titles, and releases on new platforms – aiming to make them key drivers of future success.

Capcom is exploring various ways to profit from its popular game franchises, including not just new video games, but also options like movies, TV series, arcades, esports competitions, and merchandise.

Rumors suggest a new Dead Rising game is in the works, potentially taking the action to Hollywood. The game would likely feature the return of Frank West, continuing his story after the original game. Apparently, a crazed film director is trying to make the ultimate movie, and the game could bring back the series’ signature time limit and photo-taking mechanics.
