A new series based on Harlan Coben’s long-running collection of novels is coming to Netflix.
Netflix revealed on Wednesday that it’s creating a new series based on Myron Bolitar, a popular character from author Harlan Coben’s books.
The new mystery drama series follows Bolitar, a former basketball hopeful whose career ended before it began due to an injury. Now working as a sports agent, he approaches his job with the same drive he had on the court. He uses his personality, intelligence, and a tough business partner to succeed in the competitive and often shady world of professional sports, frequently putting himself on the line to protect his clients.
It remains to be seen how closely the upcoming series will follow the twelve books that tell Bolitar’s story. Harlan Coben began writing these thrillers in 1995 with Deal Breaker and finished with Think Twice in 2024. Currently, there’s no news about who will play Bolitar, or when the series will be released, leaving fans eager to find out.
Myron Bolitar is the newest Harlan Coben novel to be adapted into a Netflix series, following hits like Fool Me Once, Run Away, and I Will Find You. The series is being created by award-winning writers and producers David E. Kelley and Kyle Long, who are co-showrunning, writing, and executive producing to bring Coben’s character to the screen.
In a statement to Netflix, Coben said he was thrilled to work with the streamer and Kelley to adapt another of his book series for television.
I’m incredibly excited to be working with the legendary David E. Kelley and his amazing team at Netflix on this new series. The Myron Bolitar books are very special to me, and I’m thrilled they’re in the hands of such a talented and creative group.
Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of series for the U.S. and Canada, also commended Harlan Coben, saying Netflix is thrilled to adapt a story featuring one of his most beloved and meaningful characters.
We’re thrilled Harlan Coben has chosen Netflix to bring Myron Bolitar, his most beloved character, to life on screen. Adapting this story has been a key goal for us, and we knew we needed the best creative team. Working with David E. Kelley, a renowned storyteller, and Kyle Long has been a fantastic experience. This project marks an important step in our ongoing partnership with Harlan, and we’re excited to continue collaborating with him for years to come.
The new Netflix series Myron Bolitar is part of a larger deal with author Harlan Coben that began in 2018. This agreement originally gave Netflix the rights to create series and movies based on 14 of Coben’s books. In 2022, Netflix extended the deal, adding another 12 books for adaptation, including eleven novels from the Myron Bolitar series. This shows Netflix’s ongoing commitment to Coben’s work and a strong, continuing partnership, now highlighted by the release of Myron Bolitar.
