These days, watching TV shows online often requires a lot of patience. It’s become common for popular series to have long gaps between seasons or even episodes, for a variety of reasons. Sometimes these delays are due to unforeseen circumstances like strikes or global events, and other times they’re caused by problems with production. That was the case with Prime Video’s fantasy series, Good Omens, which faced a three-year delay, but the final season is finally here.
The final episode of Good Omens, a 90-minute series finale, premiered on Prime Video on May 13th. Simply titled “The Finale,” this single episode concludes the story, picking up from the cliffhanger ending of Season 2 in July 2023. While it’s been a long wait, fans can now watch and decide if the conclusion lives up to expectations.
Good Omens’ Finale Is Much Shorter Than It Was Intended To Be
The final episode of Good Omens might be confusing for some viewers. While it concludes the story of the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant) – who work together to stop the Antichrist – it feels rushed compared to previous seasons. Originally, a six-episode final season was announced in December 2023, but filming stopped in September after allegations of sexual assault against the series creator, Neil Gaiman. Gaiman later left the production in October 2024, and the season was shortened to a single, 90-minute episode.
Whether the 90-minute finale feels like a satisfying conclusion will be up to viewers. The episode continues the story right after the end of Season 2, with Aziraphale preparing for the Second Coming. However, the Second Coming isn’t the only thing at stake. Fans will also be eager to see how Aziraphale and Crowley’s relationship resolves, and, crucially, what happens to the universe itself. The finale carries significant consequences.
I’m really excited for the Good Omens finale! Not only are David Tennant and Michael Sheen back, but a ton of other fantastic actors are returning too – Doon Mackichan as Michael, Gloria Obianyo as Uriel, Liz Carr as Saraqael, Paul Chahidi as Sandalphon, Quelin Sepulveda as Muriel, and the incredible Sir Derek Jacobi as The Metatron. Plus, Bilal Hasna is joining us as Jesus, which is a great addition! Rachel Talalay is directing, and I have high hopes for how she’ll bring it all together.
All three seasons of Good Omens is now streaming on Prime Video.
