The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is almost here! The final 25 countries will perform one last time, all competing for the chance to win.
Armenia is counting on singer Simón to win the competition. Can he deliver a victory and give the country its first-ever win?
Armenia has competed in the Eurovision grand final fifteen times, but hasn’t yet achieved a victory or had the chance to host the event. Their best results so far were fourth-place finishes in both 2008 and 2014. Hopefully, this year’s contestant, Simón, can finally bring a win to Armenia.

What has Simón said about representing Armenia at Eurovision 2026?

This song represents years of dedication and a strong belief in myself. I hope it makes you feel free and energized, and reminds you that taking that first step towards your dreams, even when it’s scary, is often all it takes.
What is Armenia’s Eurovision 2026 song called?
Okay, so I just got a preview of Armenia’s entry, and Simón is bringing some serious energy with “Paloma Rumba.” It’s a really upbeat, English-language track, and the songwriting team – David Tserunyan, Eva Voskanyan, Lilit Navasardyan, and Roza Kostandyan – clearly know how to craft a catchy tune. I’m expecting a vibrant performance!
This song playfully jokes about the typical workday and celebrates the idea of escaping a boring routine to pursue what you really love.

The Eurovision Song Contest has received a lot of criticism for letting Israel compete this year, given the current war happening in Gaza.
Several countries are choosing not to participate in the contest this year because the organization in charge, the European Broadcasting Union, decided against banning Israel from competing.
As a huge Eurovision fan, I was really interested to hear what came out of the EBU’s meeting last December. They voted to put in some new rules to prevent governments or outside groups from unfairly pushing certain songs to sway how people vote – which is a good thing, honestly! But, interestingly, they didn’t actually vote on whether Israel would be allowed to participate at all. It was just about those new rules for fair play.
So, I just read the official word from the EBU, and basically, everyone pretty much agreed they don’t need to revote on whether Eurovision 2026 should happen. It’s a go, as far as they’re concerned, and they’re adding some extra safety measures just to be sure everything runs smoothly. Sounds like good news for fans like me!
Well, folks, the lineup for Eurovision is already looking a little different this year. I’m getting word that Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland have all decided to sit this one out. It’s a bit of a surprise to see so many familiar faces skipping the competition, and it definitely changes the dynamic heading into the show.
Ireland’s public broadcaster, RTÉ, has decided not to participate in this year’s competition due to the tragic loss of life and ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which continues to endanger civilians.
The BBC, the UK broadcaster for the competition, stated it backs the EBU’s decision. In a statement, they explained it’s about upholding the competition’s rules and ensuring inclusivity.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 final will take place on Saturday 16 May 2026.
