Scary Movie 6: Release date, cast and trailer for the parody film

People are really excited for the release of the sixth Scary Movie film.

The film series started in 2000 and quickly gained a dedicated and passionate fanbase. After a 13-year break, fans were thrilled to learn a sixth movie was in the works.

Released in 2013, Scary Movie 5 surprised and disappointed many fans when its creators chose to replace the original cast and characters. This decision remains controversial even now.

The next Scary Movie, the sixth installment, is bringing back both familiar faces from the original cast and other actors who’ve appeared in previous films. It’s been 26 years since the first movie, and this feels like a long-awaited reunion.

Fans are eager to know when the next installment will be released and which movies it will spoof. Here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know.

Scary Movie 6 release date

Scary Movie 6 is set to be released in UK cinemas on Friday 5 June 2026.

The event was initially planned for June 12th, but the date was moved up, likely to avoid clashing with a presentation from Universal Pictures directed by Steven Spielberg.

Marlon Wayans, known for his role as Shorty Meeks, announced on Instagram that he’s currently working on editing ‘Scary Movie’.

We have some news about the release date. Unfortunately, we’re postponing the June 12th launch. However, because of the incredible support and global enthusiasm, we’re now releasing a week sooner!

Great news! Scary Movie is now scheduled for release on June 5th. We’re kicking off summer with plenty of laughs, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Which films will Scary Movie 6 parody?

Scary Movie 6 is expected to poke fun at a lot of recent movies, thrillers, and popular internet moments, according to trailers and early reports. With 13 years having passed since the last film, there’s plenty of material for the movie to parody.

The next Scary Movie will poke fun at the horror film M3GAN, and the trailer shows Ghostface dressed up like the creepy doll. A memorable scene from Get Out, called The Sunken Place, will be recreated with the character Shorty. Plus, Chris Elliott is expected to play a character based on Nicolas Cage’s villain from the movie Longlegs.

The parody event will also feature films like Smile, Terrifier 3, The Substance, Weapons, and A Quiet Place. Sinners was selected due to its recent recognition at the Oscars.

Scary Movie 6 cast

Last year, it was revealed that Anna Faris and Regina Hall will be back as Cindy and Brenda in a new installment of the Scary Movie series. They haven’t played these characters for 20 years, as they weren’t in Scary Movie 5.

The Wayan brothers are returning for the latest movie, both as actors and writers. This marks their first time appearing on screen together in 23 years, and they’ve also penned the script.

Okay, so I’m really excited about the sixth movie because they’re bringing back a bunch of the original cast! We’re talking Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, and Jon Abrahams – all the ‘Scary Movie’ favorites. Plus, they’ve got Cheri Oteri and Chris Elliott coming back, which is awesome. It’s going to be a proper reunion!

Here is the cast of Scary Movie 6:

  • Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell
  • Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks
  • Marlon Wayans as Shorty Meeks
  • Shawn Wayans as Ray Wilkins
  • Dave Sheridan as Doofy Gilmore
  • Jon Abrahams as Bobby Prinze
  • Lochlyn Munro as Greg Phillippe
  • Cheri Oteri as Gail Hailstorm
