While viewers in the UK enjoy new episodes of The Pitt season 2 each week, fans in the US are eagerly awaiting season 3. We’ve just learned some new details about what’s coming up in the show’s next season.
Noah Wyle announced at the Warner Bros Discovery Upfronts that production on season 3 is starting soon, confirming what executive producer and director John Wells said earlier – that filming would begin in June.
Wyle explained the story takes place in early November, right before the holiday season, which will bring a fresh wave of crises, conflicts, and challenges.
I’m really hoping we get an announcement soon, and Deadline is suggesting it might be either right before Veterans Day on November 11th, or around Thanksgiving on November 26th. Fingers crossed!

This aligns with previous comments from Wyle regarding season 3. He told Variety in April that they were only considering a time jump to change the weather, allowing for different types of cases. He specifically wondered what investigations might arise in winter with conditions like cold, snow, and black ice, if the show had previously been set in summer.
We don’t have many details about season 3 yet, but we can confirm that Beau Willimon will return. Additionally, Ayesha Harris, who plays Dr. Parker Ellis, will be a main cast member this season, having been promoted from a recurring role.
Ganesh, who played Dr. Samira Mohan, will not be returning to the show. Her character left as part of the storyline.

Wyle explained that cast departures are a natural part of the show, happening each season. As a writer, he noted the challenge of maintaining a consistent timeframe while realistically portraying the constantly changing nature of an emergency room, where staff turnover is common.
We’re always looking to introduce new characters or give existing ones more prominent roles when cast members leave, and to keep the stories interesting. However, Supriya has been a really important part of the show from the very start.
Everyone loves Dr. Mohan, and I’ve really enjoyed working with her and Supriya. We’re all sad to see her go and wish her the best in whatever she does next.
You can now stream the first season of The Pitt on HBO Max in the UK. New episodes of season 2 are released every Thursday. A subscription to HBO Max starts at just £5.99 per month.
