New Spider-Man: Brand New Day Footage Repeats a TASM Costume Trick

We’re getting another peek at the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, including a first look at Spider-Man’s new costume. While a full trailer isn’t available yet, this new footage follows the initial trailer released in March and adds to the excitement that’s been building for months.

Sony recently released a behind-the-scenes video called Spider-Man: Brand New Day – Practical Production, showcasing the filming of the movie’s opening action sequence and the impressive stunts performed on location. The video highlights the practical effects used for Spider-Man’s web-slinging and reveals a new, colder-weather costume for Peter Parker – featuring the suit worn under a winter jacket and coat. You can see the new look in the video around the five-second mark.

We’ve seen Spider-Man geared up for cold weather before – Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man had similar winter attire in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Along with a new video clip, a fresh movie poster was also released.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Action Looks Like The Best In The MCU So Far

The video shows Tom Holland and director Joe Cretton talking about filming the action scenes for the movie. They shot these scenes on the streets of Glasgow, Scotland, with real crowds watching. Holland says the action is some of the best they’ve done in any of the films, and they focused on doing practical stunts on location instead of relying too heavily on green screens and CGI – though there will still be plenty of special effects.

It’s great to see this new approach, and it seems to be working well, based on what we’ve seen in footage from the Spider-Man movies so far. This isn’t unexpected, though; the director previously demonstrated a talent for action in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. While this film isn’t primarily focused on martial arts—aside from the ninja group, the Hand—that skill clearly carries over.

This new information helps us understand how the movie opens. The script shows Peter starting alone, reading a letter to MJ, then watching a video of her and Ned. He immediately jumps into an action scene – the one we just saw in the video. It seems this will be part of a larger montage showing Spider-Man battling several villains, like Boomerang and Tarantula, creating a fast-paced and exciting beginning to the film.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31st, 2026.
