Harlan Coben to unite with Big Little Lies boss for all-new Netflix show based on hit book series

A new series based on Harlan Coben’s Myron Bolitar novel series is coming to Netflix.

Myron Bolitar is a new mystery drama series about its main character, a former basketball player who now works as a sports agent and solves crimes as a hobby.

When a career-ending injury cuts short his NBA aspirations, Myron Bolitar becomes a sports agent. He uses his personality, intelligence, and a tough business partner to succeed in the competitive and often underhanded world of professional sports, frequently putting himself in danger to protect his clients.

Since 2018, Netflix has been adapting Harlan Coben’s novels at a rapid pace. After signing a lucrative five-year deal granting them rights to 14 of his books, the streamer has already turned 12 of his works into shows and movies, including popular titles like Run Away and Fool Me Once.

In 2022, Netflix renewed its agreement with author Harlan Coben for another four years, and also acquired the rights to adapt twelve more of his books, including his popular Bolitar series.

While the actors haven’t been chosen yet for the Myron Bolitar series, David E. Kelley, the creator of Big Little Lies, will be an executive producer, working alongside Harlan Coben.

As a huge fan of Harlan Coben’s work, I was so excited to hear he’s teaming up with Trevor Kelley and his team at Netflix! Coben himself said he’s really honored by the partnership, and that he’s thrilled to see such a talented group bringing his Myron Bolitar books to the screen – and honestly, as a reader, I couldn’t agree more. Those books deserve a great adaptation, and this feels like the right team to do it.

Jinny Howe, who leads Netflix series development in the US and Canada, explained that adapting this story for the screen was a key goal, and they were careful to find the perfect team to work with.

We’re thrilled to be working with David E. Kelley, a brilliant storyteller, and Kyle Long on this new series. This project marks a significant achievement for our ongoing collaboration, and we’re excited about continuing our partnership for years to come.

You can now watch Run Away on Netflix, with plans starting at just £5.99 per month. Netflix is also accessible through Sky Glass and Virgin Media.
